Irrational drug use not only causes a delay in the treatment of patients, failure to achieve full well-being, drug interactions and side effects, drug resistance but also creates economic negativities such as waste of resources and unnecessary workload. This study aims to investigate the irrational drug use behaviors of individuals over the age of 18 who applied to a university hospital. ⋯ Irrational drug use behaviors are still observed in society. The fact that the risk is higher in lower education groups is an example of the negative consequences of limited health literacy. The fact that different risk groups have been identified for different behaviors related to irrational drug use shows that intervention studies on this subject should be directed to specific groups. The effect of having social security reveals its connection with universal health coverage and rational drug use.

The aim of this study is to compare the perioperative complications and overall survival of patients who underwent proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) and patients who underwent cemented calcar-replacement hemiarthroplasty (CCRH) for unstable intertrochanteric fracture in patients aged 75 years and older. ⋯ Both PFNA and CCRH techniques can be used for surgical treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femur fractures.

This study was to describe the clinical characteristics, chest CT image findings, and potential role of T cells immunity in adenovirus positive pneumonia. ⋯ With regard to Adv+ pneumonia, the most frequent symptoms were cough and fever, and the most common CT pattern was consolidation; classical CT findings such as consolidation with surrounding ground-glass opacity could also be observed. Furthermore, our data indicated the incidence of abrogated cellular immunity in patients with Adv+ pneumonia.

Sjögren's syndrome is a systemic, autoimmune disease and can affect many organs and systems. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the respiratory manifestations, and the association between interstitial lung disease (ILD) and disease activity in primary SS (pSS) patients. ⋯ The most common pulmonary manifestation in our patients was ILD. ILD was observed more frequently in patients with moderate and severe disease activity. Some of the ILD patients were diagnosed while they were asymptomatic. Even if they are asymptomatic, it is important to follow up the patients with physical examination, spirometry, DLCO and thorax CT.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of the PET vascular activity score (PETVAS) during the follow-up of patients with Takayasu arteritis. ⋯ We observed higher PETVAS in patients with active disease and elevated acute phase reactants. Although scores in our study (performed at one-h) were lower compared to the original PETVAS study performed at two h, PETVAS seems to be a reliable tool to quantify FDG PET scores in routine practice.
