Randomized Controlled Trial Observational Study
Comparison of USG Guided or Landmark Approach Fascia Iliaca Compartment Block for Positioning in Elderly Hip Fracture Patients with Spinal Anesthesia: a randomized controlled observational study.
Currently, the elderly population in the world is rapidly increasing due to technological developments and convenient access to health services. Due to comorbidities in elderly patients, hip fractures are frequently observed after exposure to environmental trauma. To reduce pain during positioning in spinal anesthesia, fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) can be applied easily and reliably. In our study, we aimed to compare the analgesic effects and duration of fascia iliaca compartment blocks performed with USG guidance or the landmark approach methods for relieving spinal anesthesia position pain. ⋯ Both USG-guided and landmark approach FICB methods provide adequate and similar analgesia for positioning in spinal anesthesia. However, in cases where there is no problem with access to the ultrasound device or time, safer blockage can be provided by imaging neurovascular structures with ultrasound.

Cisplatin (CIS) is an effective antineoplastic agent used in the treatment of several cancer types. Peripheral neuropathy is a major dose-limiting side-effect in CIS therapy. Cannabinoids may alleviate this painful side effect. This study investigated the analgesic effects of anandamide (AN) on CIS-induced peripheral neuropathy, in vitro effects of AN in CIS neurotoxicity, and the contribution of nitric oxide (NO) in this effect. ⋯ AN may be a therapeutic alternative for the treatment of CIS-induced peripheral neuropathy. However, its central adverse effects must be considered.

Some electrocardiography (ECG) parameters such as Tp-e interval, Tp-e / QT ratio, fragmented QRS (fQRS), and heart rate variability (HRV) are related to cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. We aim to investigate the relation between premature ventricular contraction burden and these parameters on 24-h ECG recording. ⋯ Our study showed that Tp-e interval, Tp-e / QT and fQRS are associated with frequency of PVCs. These measurements in patients with PVCs may form part of assessment of cardiovascular risk.

Although sonoelastography is applied in assessment of many organs, studies for evaluation of muscles are very few in number and are mostly limited to adults. With this prospective study, we aimed to evaluate the value of sonoelastography in assessment of influenza related benign acute myositis in children. ⋯ Sonoelastography proves to be a valuable tool for diagnosis of BACM. It is one of the available ultrasound techniques in a radiology department and may particularly evolve to become a useful routine ancillary technique for investigation and follow-up in these cases.

This meta-analysis comprehensively investigated the efficacy and safety of rituximab (RTX) in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). ⋯ Treatment of IMN with RTX has comparable efficacy to other immunosuppressive treatments (ISTs). RTX has the advantages of no requirement for steroids and lower rates adverse event and relapse rates. Patients who relapse or are resistant to other IST agents also respond to RTX. RTX-based regimens and other B-cell-targeted therapies may represent the future of IMN therapy.
