Renal function of patients with hypothyroidism increases after reaching euthyroid state. There is no data regarding geriatric age group. The aim of the study was determined to investigate whether renal function of geriatric patients with hypothyroidism increases after they become euthyroid. ⋯ It has been observed that hypothyroidism treatment increases eGFR in geriatric patients. Similar results were obtained after studies with younger patients in the literature. This study is a study in which only geriatric age group patients were examined. It should be kept in mind that hypothyroidism which is not corrected in geriatric patients may also contribute to a decrease in eGFR.

The aim of this study was to compare renal and pancreatic apparent diffusion-coefficient (ADC) values of diabetic patients and control subjects and to examine their potential association with several diabetes-related clinical parameters. ⋯ Renal and pancreatic ADC values of diabetic patients could potentially play a role, as markers of renal and pancreatic functions, in clinical decisions in the follow-up of such patients.

Operative bleeding is one of the major determinants of outcome in liver surgery. This study aimed to describe the impact of intraoperative blood loss on the postoperative course of liver resection (LR). ⋯ Surgeons should consider the adverse effects of intraoperative bleeding during liver resection on patients’ outcome. Favorable outcomes would be obtained with diligent postoperative care.

Point-of-care ultrasound imaging of the inferior vena cava distensibility index is a potential indicator for determining fluid overload and dehydration in the mechanically ventilated patients. Data on inferior vena cava distensibility index and inferior vena cava distensibility variability are limited in mechanically ventilated pediatric patients. That is why our aim in this study was to measure inferior vena cava distensibility index and to obtain mean values in pediatric patients, ventilated in the operating room before the ambulatory surgical procedure started. ⋯ Our study is the largest series of children in the literature in which inferior vena cava distensibility index measurements were investigated.

Prevalence of comorbidities and associated factors in acromegaly patients in the Turkish population.
The presence of comorbidities in patients with acromegaly causes an increase in morbidity and/or mortality and a decrease in quality of life. In this study, we aimed to investigate the demographic, clinical and laboratory features, prevalence of acro- megaly-related comorbidities, and factors associated with these comorbidities in patients with acromegaly. ⋯ In this study, we revealed that the most common comorbidities in acromegaly patients in the Turkish population are thyroid nodules, low high-density lipoprotein (HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) level, hypertriglyceridemia, HT, colonic polyps, DM, and prediabetes, and female sex and age at diagnosis are the most important factors associated with comorbidities.
