Hantavirus is a rodent borne zoonosis caused by the members of the virus family Bunyaviridae, genus Hantavirus. In this study, we aimed to determine the role of peripheral blood leukocyte ratio in differential diagnosis of Hantavirus disease. ⋯ In conclusion, NLR, PLR, and LMR ratios may be useful for clinicians in differential diagnosis of Hantavirus in patients presenting with similar symptoms of Hantavirus disease.

What is predictive value of preoperative CA 125 level on survival rate of type-1 endometrial cancer?
To investigate the utility of preoperative serum cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) levels in type 1 endometrial carcinoma (EC) as a marker for determining poor prognostic factors and survival. ⋯ The data showed that choosing a lower threshold value for the CA 125 level (16 IU/L) instead of 35 IU/L, could be more useful in type 1 EC patients with negative prognostic factors.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major public health problem worldwide and in Tunisia due to its increasing rate of incidence. KRAS and NRAS mutations have become a pivotal part of CRC diagnosis, given their association to treatment resistance with antiepidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibodies. In this study, we aimed to screen for mutations in KRAS and NRAS genes in Tunisian patients with CRC and explore their correlations with clinicopathological features. ⋯ It can be inferred from this study that Tunisian CRC patients have a similar frequency of KRAS and NRAS mutations compared to those observed in other populations. Consequently, screening for KRAS and NRAS mutations is crucial for the orientation of therapies and the selection of appropriate candidates, while also helping to avoid unnecessary toxicity and increased costs for patients.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the etiology, clinical characteristics, and outcome of nontraumatic coma (NTC) among children admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). ⋯ Although results obtained from this single-center study cannot be generalized to the pediatric population, the contribution to the literature in terms of the relationships between NTC etiology, and outcome can be crucial for clinical decision-making. We report neuroinfection as the most common cause of NTC, and the only factor that was closely associated with mortality was PRISM III score. Length of hospital stay was inversely correlated to patient mortality.

Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a crucial complication leading to significant morbidity and mortality allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation which occurs in approximately half of the transplant recipients. Suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) and regenerating islet-derived 3-alpha(Reg3a) might be important biomarkers to predict acute GVHD. ⋯ The ST2 level might be used as a significant biomarker for predicting acute GVHD.
