Urethroplasty is the preferred treatment for hypospadias but is affected by the severity of anomalies, making it a complex procedure with potential postoperative complications. Following surgery, parents receive instructions and recommendations, whether from nurses or physicians, regardless of complication rates. However, nurses play a crucial role in educating caregivers before surgery and providing postoperative care during follow-up. The study aims to assess parents' knowledge and practices, as well as the frequency of complications in boys who underwent urethroplasty for hypospadias and received postoperative nurse-led care and whose parents received preoperative education against those of boys who underwent urethroplasty under routine hospital care. ⋯ Preoperative instructions enhance caregivers' knowledge and practices following urethroplasty, while postoperative nurse-led care reduces immediate postoperative complications associated with hypospadias in boys.

Data on the prevalence of allergic diseases in children with proven drug allergies are limited. We aim to evaluate the frequency of allergic comorbidity in children with proven common drug allergies. ⋯ Nearly half (44.6%) of the children with proven drug hypersensitivity had concomitant allergic diseases and immediate reactions were more common in this group. Children evaluated for drug hypersensitivity should be assessed for other allergic diseases.

Lung transplantation is the treatment of last resort for many chronic lung diseases. Airway complications (AC) following lung transplantation, such as bronchial stenosis, dehiscence, malacia, and fistula, account for frequent hospital admissions, additional treatment costs, decreased quality of life, and reduced survival rates. Beyond surgical and medical preventive efforts, interventional bronchoscopy (IB) can be used in the management of these complications. The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of IB on the management of AC following lung transplantation. ⋯ IB is safe to perform on lung transplant patients with AC. It has low procedural complication rates and can be performed repeatedly. Because of the high rate of restenosis, interventional pulmonologists should find out treatment modalities with lower rates of restenosis.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). The objective of this study was to describe the degree of ASCVD risk factor control and their association with carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in T2DM patients followed up at a diabetes clinic in Southern, Sri Lanka. ⋯ The majority of patients have not achieved the recommended targets for ASCVD risk factors and are at high risk of ASCVD. It is therefore necessary to identify the reasons for not achieving the treatment targets in order to reduce the ASCVD burden by controlling LDL-C, TG, and NAFLD.

There are no current guidelines to help clinicians decide whether patients with adult neuromuscular disease (NMD) should be screened or treated for osteoporosis (OP). This study was undertaken to investigate the presence of OP in patients with various types of NMD and to examine the relationship between OP evaluation parameters and functional status, daily living activities, balance, and ambulation levels. ⋯ OP is often overlooked in NMD patients with neurological problems and a high risk of falling. These patients should be screened for bone health and fragility.
