To evaluate the protective effect of melatonin on ovarian ischemia reperfusion injury in a rat model. ⋯ Melatonin attenuates ischemia reperfusion damage in a rat torsion/detorsion model by improving histopathological and biochemical findings including OSI and peroxynitrite.

Infertility is a global problem that brings with serious sexual and social consequences that strain the health sector and society. The expansion of CAG & GGC repeats in androgen receptor (AR) gene Ensembl number; ENSG00000169083 may leads to reduced fertility. Our objective was to determine association of CAG and GGC repeats with altered sperm parameters in male infertile subjects. ⋯ Longer CAG length corresponded to greater severity of spermatogenic defect and may lead to subfertility recommendations.

This study aims to identify the role of synovial fluid levels of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 9 (ADAMTS9) and a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 4 (ADAMTS4) for the prediction of intraarticular steroid injection success in knee osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ The lower levels of ADAMTS9 in synovial fluid may be used in conjunction with high WOMAC scores in the prediction of intraarticular steroid injection success and advanced stage knee OA patients.

To investigate possible protective effects of Ankaferd Blood Stopper® (ABS) in an experimental liver ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) model. ⋯ ABS has a strong hepatoprotective effect due to its antioxidant and antiinflammatory effects and could therefore be used as a potential therapeutic agent for IRI.

Colchicine is the mainstay of treatment in FMF. However, in daily practice it is not easy to maintain effective colchicine doses in a substantial number of patients due to its side effects. In this study, we aimed to investigate prevalence and risk factors for colchicine side effects that limit optimal drug dosing and cause permanent discontinuation. ⋯ Colchicine intolerance is an important problem in daily clinical practice, mainly due to diarrhea and liver toxicity. Suboptimal colchicine dosing is associated with complications.
