Pilon fracture is difficult to treat fractures due to many complications that can develop after surgery. To achieve the best results, different surgical approaches are used.In our study, we aimed to compare the functional results and complication rates of our treatments in patients treated with 3 different surgical tecniques. ⋯ Despite the different surgical approaches and implants applied, no difference was found between the midterm ankle functional results of the patients. Two-stage surgery and Ilizarov is a safe and effective treatment approach to reduce morbidity and early complications in pilon fractures.

In this study, our objective was to evaluate the mortality in geriatric hip fracture patients who were operated within 48 h after admission or after the 48thh. ⋯ Although shortening the time to surgery may have some rationale, we did not find any difference in patients operated before 48 h compared to 48–96 h concerning mortality.

To evaluate the protective effect of melatonin on ovarian ischemia reperfusion injury in a rat model. ⋯ Melatonin attenuates ischemia reperfusion damage in a rat torsion/detorsion model by improving histopathological and biochemical findings including OSI and peroxynitrite.

Infertility is a global problem that brings with serious sexual and social consequences that strain the health sector and society. The expansion of CAG & GGC repeats in androgen receptor (AR) gene Ensembl number; ENSG00000169083 may leads to reduced fertility. Our objective was to determine association of CAG and GGC repeats with altered sperm parameters in male infertile subjects. ⋯ Longer CAG length corresponded to greater severity of spermatogenic defect and may lead to subfertility recommendations.

Forensic medicine and sciences is a multidisciplinary branch of science, which frequently benefit from novel technologies. State of the art omics technologies have begun to be performed in forensic medicine and sciences, particularly in postmortem interval, intoxication, drugs of abuse, diagnosis of diseases and cause of death. This review aims to discuss the role and use of great omics (metabolomics, proteomics, genomics and transcriptomics) in forensic sciences, in detail. ⋯ Omics seems as a revolutionary step in forensic science and sure carries it towards a new age. The number of forensic studies utilizing omics steadily increases in last years. Omics strategies should be used together in order to gather more accurate and certain data. Additional studies need to be performed to incorporate omics into routine forensic methodology.
