Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 (YAS) glass microspheres are currently used in radioembolization treatment. However, abscess formation can occur following this treatment. This study aims to endow YAS glass microspheres with antibacterial properties to address the abscesses forming in patients after radioembolization treatment. ⋯ The antibacterial agent-doped YAS glass microspheres show promise in combating infections that occur following radioembolization treatment.

Misfolded proteins are eliminated by a process known as endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein degradation (ERAD). ERAD has an impact on a variety of illnesses, such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis, cancer, and neurological conditions. As one of the many proteins involved in ERAD, this study is focused on p97/valosin-containing protein (VCP) and small VCP-interacting protein (SVIP). The existence and function of SVIP and p97/VCP in various types of pancreatic cancer have not yet been investigated. The study's objectives are to examine the expressions of SVIP and p97/VCP in two pancreatic cancer types and to show whether these proteins aid in the invasion and migration of pancreatic cancer cells. ⋯ Overall, the findings show the differential expression and function of p97/VCP and SVIP in pancreas ductal adenocarcinoma cells. The potential of the pancreatic cancer cells to migrate and invade altered when the two cell lines were transfected with p97/VCPsi and SVIPsi.

This study was conducted to evaluate the results of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) screenings conducted in a region of İstanbul between 2018 and 2023. ⋯ Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disorder whose prevalence is increasing globally and for which early diagnosis is important. To recognize this disease, it is necessary to increase screening and raise awareness among families. This study will also shed light on future studies on this subject.

The frequency of potentially inappropriate medication usage in community-dwelling oldest-old people.
It is critically important to protect the health of the oldest-old people, as their hospitalization and death rates are high. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use among the community-dwelling oldest-old people and its association with their demographic characteristics. ⋯ The prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use was high among the oldest-old people in Turkiye. There were no differences in frequency of use according to age, sex, or geographical region. It is important to prevent the use of potentially inappropriate medications that should be avoided and to monitor the oldest-old group that uses potentially inappropriate medications that should be used with caution.

Anemia in the first week after birth, which could affect growth, development, and organ function, should be an important warning sign to clinicians. The aim of this study was to assess the related risk factors of early neonatal anemia and to analyze the effect of anemia on the expression levels of myocardial markers in newborns. ⋯ Multiple pregnancy, preterm birth, and abnormal placenta were identified as risk factors for early neonatal anemia. The occurrence of early neonatal anemia was associated with increased levels of myocardial markers.
