Male infertility rises for many reasons, along with age; therefore, we aimed to research the characterization of aquaporin-3, 7, and 8 in human sperm belonging to different age groups. ⋯ According to the results, it can be stated that aquaporin-3 and aquaporin-8 molecules were more expressed at age 26 to 35 years, and aquaporin-7 was densely expressed from age 18 to 25 years. If the characterization of these molecules is adversely affected, male infertility may eventually emerge. We recommend further advanced-level studies on this subject.

Menopause is often accompanied by neurological symptoms, including cognitive difficulties, especially with memory and attention. The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between the timing of menopause and the cognitive performance of menopausal patients who applied to our neurology clinic with complaints of forgetfulness. ⋯ The relationship between the cognitive performance of menopausal women and the timing of menopause was examined herein. The ACE-R, attention and orientation, visual, verbal fluency, and memory scores were significantly higher in women ≥50 years of age who entered menopause compared to those <40 years of age and those between 40 and 50 years of age. This study provides evidence that advancing age at menopause is associated with better cognitive performance. This relationship is most evident in the areas of the attention, verbal fluency, memory, and visuospatial domains.

The increase in the proportion of the elderly population within society is concurrently escalating their vulnerability to traumas, notably falls associated with age-related comorbidities. ⋯ In the future, specialized measures and prospective studies tailored to the geriatric population, which will constitute the largest demographic segment of society, can facilitate the prevention of trauma-related morbidity and mortality, including associated financial costs.

We aimed to search the relationship between the preoperative PVI (pleth variability index) and intraoperative respiratory parameters to reveal whether PVI can be used as a prediction tool in bariatric surgery. ⋯ A relationship was found between PVI and intraoperative peak airway pressures, oxygen saturation, PEEP, bronchodilatator, and steroid usage. This result may be inspiring to conduct larger studies addressing the issue of predicting intraoperative respiratory problems in bariatric surgeries.

We aimed to determine the genetic risk factors in patients aged 45 years and below with a history of early myocardial infarction (MI), compared to individuals over 60 years of age with no history of MI. ⋯ In our study, we found that prothrombotic gene variants and APOA1 rs5069 polymorphism were statistically significantly associated with coronary artery disease. Thus, prothrombotic gene variants and APOA1 rs5069 polymorphism may serve as predictors of early myocardial infarctions. Individuals with early family histories of coronary artery disease could be screened for these mutations.
