In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and cerebral oxygenation during spinal anesthesia in women undergoing cesarean section. This study also aimed to demonstrate whether fetal cord blood oxygenation was affected by maternal BMI and/or delivery time. ⋯ The results of this study showed that parturients with BMI of <30 who are undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia might have an increased risk of complications due to decreased cerebral oxygenation related with hypotension. Therefore, it can be suggested that before and during cesarean section these patients should be closely monitored for cerebral oxygenation using NIRS.

To determine risk factors of overweightness/obesity in children aged 0-5 years in the Turkish population. ⋯ Our results from the TDHS 2013 showed several risk factors of children overweight/obesity. Determining obesity risk factors, monitoring obese children/adults, and providing a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and prevention of obesity will be useful for the future.

Changes in balance and postural control have been reported during the perimenopausal period. We investigated the effect of medial longitudinal arch height and medial arch support insoles on postural sway and balance in middle-aged perimenopausal women. ⋯ Medial longitudinal arch height and medial arch support insoles affect the balance parameters in perimenopausal women.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a type of adult stem cell consisting of a heterogeneous subset of stromal stem cells that can be isolated from adult tissues. Folic acid is another important contributor to tissue regeneration and repair, which affects the synthesis of some building block molecules used for wound healing. In this study, we examine the effect of folic acid and MSCderived soluble factors in the wound healing model. ⋯ The results show that both folic acid and MDFs increased the wound healing rate in HUVECs when they were used separately. The strongest benefits were seen in treatment using folic acid and MDFs together.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the major causes of cancer mortality worldwide. As a novel type of endogenous noncoding RNAs, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are formed by a covalent link between 5’ and 3’ ends. They are very stable and abundant in eukaryotes. As there were no reported studies on the expression profiles of circular RNA ITCH (cir-ITCH) and circHIPK3 in GC, in the current study, we aimed to delineate the expression profiles and clinicopathological relevance of these two circRNAs in GC tissues compared to their paired adjacent noncancerous tissues. ⋯ Cir_ITCH and circHIPK3 may have imperative roles in GC and serve in the future as potential prognostic biomarkers in GC.
