Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is a method for postoperative pain management. Studies on children are gradually increasing. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate effectiveness of TAP block on pain control, its side effects, and parental satisfaction levels in children. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided TAP blocks can be performed safely in children in lower abdominal surgeries. However, the efficacy of TAP block on late term postoperative pain scores is limited. Time interval between the TAP block and the incision, sex, and pain memory, as well as other factors that may improve the quality of TAP block should be considered.

The study aims to evaluate the neurodevelopmental outcomes of neonates with myelomeningocele (MMC) operated in the postnatal period. ⋯ In our study, it was found that the neurodevelopmental prognosis of MMC cases requiring ventriculoperitoneal shunt in the postnatal period was significantly worse than those without shunt. It is the first study in which the neurodevelopment of patients with MMC who were operated in the postnatal period was evaluated with BSID III evaluated and delays in all areas were shown in cases with MMC compared to normal cases. Better neurodevelopmental outcomes in patients operated in the first 72 h suggest that early surgery will improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in patients with MMC.

Elder abuse is among the most important ethical issue during the management of older population. The elder abuse suspicion index (EASI) was developed for evaluating abuse in older adults. We aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish version EASI-Türkiye (TR) among older adults. ⋯ The EASI-TR appears to have acceptable reliability and validity in screening for abuse in older adults. This tool may recognize cases that require additional evaluation in managing of ethical issues.

Since well-designed prospective comparative trials are lacking, haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantations approach should be based on the expertise of a particular center. In this study, we aimed to report the results and outcomes of patients who underwent haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. ⋯ In our center, we prefer to use high dose posttransplantation cyclophosphamide after haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis. With this approach, our center's overall survival and disease-free survival rates are comparable and compatible with the literature findings.
