Since well-designed prospective comparative trials are lacking, haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantations approach should be based on the expertise of a particular center. In this study, we aimed to report the results and outcomes of patients who underwent haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. ⋯ In our center, we prefer to use high dose posttransplantation cyclophosphamide after haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis. With this approach, our center's overall survival and disease-free survival rates are comparable and compatible with the literature findings.

Preterm births cause fetuses to be born without completing the development of their organs. Due to this undesirable situation, it is the pulmonary tissue which has to be most exposed to harmful effects of extrauterine environment. Early disappearance of the prophylactic and constructive effects of amniotic fluid (AF) on developing tissues, such as pulmonary tissue, facilitates the formation of pulmonary morbidities resulting from oxygen. Setting out from this knowledge, we wanted, in addition to assessing the beneficent effects of AF on pulmonary tissue, to study the importance of AF in morbidities of this tissue thought to originate from oxygen. ⋯ : Our study has demonstrated that AF protects the pulmonary tissue from the harmful effects of oxygen in the intrauterine period. In addition, our data have suggested that the pulmonary tissue's being deprived of the useful effects of AF owing to premature birth may be an important trigger in the occurrence of the pulmonary morbidities thought to result from oxygen.

The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a new quantitative index for the diagnosis of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. ⋯ The new Index described here is an effective, feasible, reproducible, highly sensitive, and specific quantitative method that can contribute to the improved diagnosis of patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.

: Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) is a minimally invasive technique of the diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (DPLD). The aim of this study is to determine the clinical-radiological and histopathological characteristics of patients in whom cryobiopsy contributes to the diagnosis. ⋯ We found the overall diagnostic yield of TBLC high. The pretest clinical-radiological diagnosis was often compatible with the multidisciplinary final diagnosis. However, TBLC is useful for the confirmation of clinical radiological diagnosis as well as clinical entities such as NSIP which is difficult to diagnose clinical-radiological. We also suggest that TBLC should be considered in patients whose clinicopathological IPF diagnosis is not precise.

The optimal sarcopenia measurement method in patients with a diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is unknown. It has been found that temporal muscle thickness (TMT) may reflect sarcopenia and be associated with survival, but the relationship between temporal muscle area (TMA) and GBM prognosis has never been evaluated before. The primary outcome of the study was to evaluate the relationship between TMA/TMT and overall survival (OS) time in newly diagnosed GBM patients. ⋯ No association could be demonstrated between TMT or TMA and OS of GBM patients. In addition, the median DFS was found to be longer in patients with low TMA. There is an unmet need to determine the optimal method of sarcopenia in GBM patients.
