Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) is a zoonotic viral disease transmitted from dromedaries to humans. To date, more than 1500 cases of MERS have been reported and 80% of all cases have occurred in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This cross-sectional study was carried out to figure out the rate of infection among humans and dromedary camels and to explore the risk factors. ⋯ The MERS-CoV infection rate was high among both Iraqi humans and dromedary camels. Further confirmatory studies are needed, and setting up of national precaution program is essential.

The clinical and demographical characteristics of Turkish pediatric lymphedema patients: a multicenter study.
Reducing lymphedema-associated burden and disability in the pediatric setting requires improved awareness and understanding clinical properties of the lymphedema. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and demographic characteristics of patients with pediatric lymphedema presented to different lymphedema centers in Turkey. ⋯ In conclusion, pediatric lymphedema has a comparable gender distribution and usually involves the lower extremities. Although most of the children had advanced disease, more than half of the patients did not receive any treatment indicating the unmet need for management of lymphedema. The education of patients and/or children about self-management methods were lacking. We suggest educational activities for both families of children with lymphedema and health care providers, in order to facilitate early reference to lymphedema units and to receive prompt preventive and therapeutic approaches for this suffering condition.

Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and coronary stenting had a poor prognosis. This study aimed to assess the accuracy of CHA2DS2-VASc score for predicting and grading adverse clinical outcomes in this population. ⋯ CHA2DS2-VASc score was a reliable prognostic indicator in patients with AF and coronary stenting.

Clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) may be the first presentation of pediatric onset multiple sclerosis (POMS). We retrospectively evaluated the clinical and laboratory data of pediatric CIS (pCIS) patients who were diagnosed with POMS upon followup for any predictive variables. We also reviewed the literature concerning the management of pCIS. ⋯ The presence of OCBs in the initial episode, MS in the family, and monosymptomatic onset may increase the possibility of developing POMS. Whether DMTs given at the pCIS stage are effective in preventing relapses and disability needs to be evaluated in longitudinal follow-up of large cohorts.

The correlation of serum sPD-1 and sPD-L1 levels with clinical, pathological characteristics and lymph node metastasis in nonsmall cell lung cancer patients.
Significant advances have been achieved in immunotherapy for the treatment of lung cancer. It is known that tumor cells and cells in the tumor microenvironment express high amounts of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1). These PD-L1s interact with programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), causing immunosuppression. The aim of our study is to examine the correlation between the serum sPD-1 and sPD-L1 levels and clinicopathological characteristics in patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer. We also compared our results with the healthy population (control group). ⋯ We think that sPD-1 and sPD-L1 levels may be used as a potential biomarker for lung cancer screening, prediction of the stage, and besides to detect recurrences and/or metastases following resection in NSCLC following validation with multicenter and larger-scale prospective trials.
