To determine predictors and relative incidence of antiepileptic drug (AED)-related rash in patients taking all common AEDs. ⋯ The rate of an antiepileptic drug (AED) rash is approximately five times greater in patients with another AED rash (8.8%) vs those without (1.7%). Rash rates were highest with phenytoin, lamotrigine, and carbamazepine and low (<1%) with several AEDs.

To determine the occurrence of neuropsychiatric symptomatology and the relation to future development of Alzheimer disease (AD) in persons with and without mild cognitive impairment (MCI). ⋯ The predictive validity of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) for identifying future Alzheimer disease (AD) cases is improved in the presence of anxiety symptoms. Mood-related depressive symptoms (dysphoria, suicidal ideation, etc.) in preclinical AD might be related to the neuropathologic mechanism, as they appear preclinically in persons both with and without MCI.

Patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) have increased risk to develop Alzheimer disease (AD). In AD increased brain amyloid burden has been demonstrated in vivo with PET using N-methyl-[(11)C]2-(4'-methylaminophenyl)-6-hydroxybenzothiazole ([(11)C]PIB) as a tracer. ⋯ At group level the elevated N-methyl-[(11)C]2-(4'-methylaminophenyl)-6-hydroxybenzothiazole ([(11)C]PIB) uptake in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) resembled that seen in Alzheimer disease (AD). At the individual level, about half of the MCI patients had [(11)C]PIB uptake in the AD range, suggestive of early AD process.
