To determine the frequency and significance of electrographic seizures and other EEG findings in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). ⋯ Seizures occurred in one third of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and over half were purely electrographic. Electrographic seizures were associated with expanding hemorrhages, and periodic discharges with cortical ICH and poor outcome. Further research is needed to determine if treating or preventing seizures or PEDs might lead to improved outcome after ICH.

Cerebral involvement is usually absent in pure adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN). Recently, nonconventional MR studies have reported brain abnormalities in patients with pure AMN, providing evidence that occult cerebral involvement may occur in this disease. It remains unclear, however, whether these brain abnormalities reflect centripetal extension of spinal cord long-tract axonopathy or can be the expression of a pathologic process largely involving the brain. ⋯ CNS damage in pure adrenomyeloneuropathy is not confined exclusively to spinal cord and seems to primarily involve the brain.

To evaluate the frequency of glucocerebrosidase (GBA) mutations in cases and controls enrolled in the Genetic Epidemiology of Parkinson's Disease (GEPD) study. ⋯ This study suggests that the Glucocerebrosidase gene may be a susceptibility gene for Parkinson disease and that Glucocerebrosidase mutations may modify age at onset.
