To investigate the association between longitudinal changes in proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) metabolites and amyloid pathology in individuals without dementia, and to explore the relationship between MRS and cognitive decline. ⋯ We demonstrate that the longitudinal change in mI/Cr and NAA/mI is associated with underlying amyloid pathology. MRS may be a useful noninvasive marker of Aβ-related processes over time. In addition, we show that in Aβ+ individuals, baseline NAA/mI may predict the rate of future cognitive decline.

Early focal brain injury after subarachnoid hemorrhage correlates with spreading depolarizations.
To investigate whether spreading depolarization (SD)-related variables at 2 different time windows (days 1-4 and 5-8) after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) correlate with the stereologically determined volume of early focal brain injury on the preinterventional CT scan. ⋯ Our findings suggest that early focal brain injury after aSAH is associated with early SDs and further support the notion that SDs are a biomarker of focal brain lesions.

To evaluate the association between the cerebrovascular reactivity to carbon dioxide (CO2-CVR) and the deep white matter hyperintensity (WMH) burden in patients with migraine. ⋯ In this study, we found a migraine-specific association between a reduced CVR to apnea and increased number of deep WMHs in healthy, nonelderly patients with migraine. A dysfunctional vascular response to apnea may predispose migraineurs to an increased risk of WMHs.

A minority of headache patients have a secondary headache disorder. The medical literature presents and promotes red flags to increase the likelihood of identifying a secondary etiology. In this review, we aim to discuss the incidence and prevalence of secondary headaches as well as the data on sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of red flags for secondary headaches. ⋯ Using the systematic SNNOOP10 list to screen new headache patients will presumably increase the likelihood of detecting a secondary cause. The lack of prospective epidemiologic studies on red flags and the low incidence of many secondary headaches leave many questions unanswered and call for large prospective studies. A validated screening tool could reduce unneeded neuroimaging and costs.

Developmental venous anomaly in adult patients with diffuse glioma: A clinically relevant coexistence?
To determine the prevalence of developmental venous anomaly in adult patients with diffuse glioma. ⋯ We report and replicate in an external cohort a high prevalence of developmental venous anomaly in adult patients with diffuse glioma, which suggests a potential underlying common predisposition or a causal relationship that requires deeper investigations.
