The authors describe the different forms of postoperative pain therapy which can be applied after a surgical repair of hypospadias. Hereby we chose for the caudal analgesia. ⋯ An overview is given of the technique, the points for attention and the different products which can be injected. Systemic analgesia and penile nerve blockade are often less effective and should only be applied in case caudal analgesia can not be administered.

From 1984 to 1993, 11 patients (7 men and 4 women, mean aged 70 years) underwent surgical procedure for sigmoido-vesical fistula due to diverticulitis. Fecaluria and/or pneumaturia was present in 10 patients. The diagnosis of sigmoido-vesical fistula due to diverticulitis was confirmed by urologic and colonic investigations. ⋯ Concerning long-term results, 3 patients died from an independant reason. All the other patients are alive and asymptomatic from the urologic as well as the digestive point of view. Based on these results, we advocate single stage repair, including correction of the fistula and resection of the diverticular colon with colo rectal anastomosis, in cases of good local and general conditions.

In 1936, Randall formulated a hypothesis concerning stone formation related to the renal papillae. Randall's hypothesis, discussed for many years, was confirmed by Cifuentes in 1983. ⋯ The papillary origin of several renal stones can be confirmed in this way. The origin of these stones would remain unknown without the use of these modern techniques.
