Amalgamation of systemic inflammatory response syndrome score with C-reactive protein level in evaluating acute pancreatitis severity in children.
Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) has to do with how the body reacts to injury. Herein, we analyzed the clinical features of acute pancreatitis (AP) in children with SIRS complication and investigated the role of SIRS score combined with C-reactive protein (CRP) level in assessing AP severity in children. ⋯ Amalgamation of SIRS criterion with CRP level potentially plays an important role in assessing AP severity in children.

Observational StudyEfficacy and tolerability of initiating, or switching to, infliximab biosimilar CT-P13 in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): a large single-centre experience.
Recently, the infliximab biosimilar (CT-P13) received market authorisation for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), allowing cost benefits when switching to CT-P13. We aim to assess the efficacy and safety of switching from originator infliximab to CT-P13 for new and existing patients. ⋯ There was no difference in the efficacy and safety of infliximab originator and CT-P13 during the first 12 months after switching.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyEUS-guided reverse bevel fine-needle biopsy sampling and open tip fine-needle aspiration in solid pancreatic lesions - a prospective, comparative study.
Different diagnostic entities can present as solid pancreatic lesions (SPL). This study aimed to explore the utility of endoscopic ultrasound-guided reverse bevel fine-needle biopsy sampling (EUS-FNB) in SPLs. ⋯ Endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition performed with a 22 gauge reverse bevel biopsy needle is safe but not superior to conventional fine-needle aspiration performed with a 25 gauge open tip needle in diagnosing solid pancreatic lesions. However, the performance of both these modalities may facilitate the diagnostic work-up in selected patients, such as cases suspicious for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and metastases. Multicenter StudyHigh treatment persistence rate and significant endoscopic healing among real-life patients treated with vedolizumab - a Finnish Nationwide Inflammatory Bowel Disease Cohort Study (FINVEDO).
The efficacy and tolerability of vedolizumab in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) has been demonstrated in an extensive GEMINI clinical trial programme. Clinical trials represent highly selected patient populations and, therefore, it is important to demonstrate effectiveness in real-life clinical practice. We set out to assess real-world treatment outcomes of vedolizumab in a nationwide cohort of treatment refractory Finnish Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) patients. ⋯ Vedolizumab provides an effective and well-tolerated treatment option in real-world clinical practice even among treatment refractory IBD patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of 22-gauge standard fine needle versus core biopsy needle for endoscopic ultrasound-guided sampling of suspected pancreatic cancer: a randomized crossover trial.
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is effective for tissue diagnosis of pancreatic mass. To improve diagnostic yield and drawbacks, 22-gauge (G) core biopsy (FNB) needle has been developed. This study aims to compare 22G FNA and FNB needles for EUS-guided sampling of suspected pancreatic cancer. ⋯ The diagnostic accuracy of EUS-guided sampling for pancreatic cancer using 22G FNA is comparable to FNB needles. The cytological quality of specimen is better in the FNB needle.
