Psoriasis is a long-term, inflammatory skin condition that affects around 1.3-2.2% of the UK population. Nurses involved in the assessment and treatment of people with psoriasis should take into account not only the condition's physical effects but also the increased risk of health problems linked to it and its psychological effects. Dehydration contributes to poor patient outcomes and can lead to avoidable harm. This article analyses incident reports from National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) relating to hydration and shows that this area of care continues to be frequently neglected. Reasons for this are suggested with recommendations for changing practice to reduce the negative impact this has on patient outcomes.

Rotavirus accounts for more than 1.3 million deaths per year around the world. In many countries, vaccination against it is already part of childhood immunisation schedules. The vaccine's use in the UK is being extended to the primary immunisation schedule and health professionals will be expected to administer it. This article explores the benefits, challenges and contraindications of administering rotavirus immunisation to children.
