Comparative StudyThe additional value of gravity stress radiographs in predicting deep deltoid ligament integrity in supination external rotation ankle fractures.
Goal of this study was to investigate whether a gravity stress radiograph is beneficial in determining instability in Supination-External rotation (SER)-type ankle fractures without a medial fracture. ⋯ Gravity stress radiographs have more discriminative ability for diagnosing SER-type fractures with or without a complete deltoid ligament tear than regular ankle mortise views.

Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta for non-traumatic intra-abdominal hemorrhage.
Hemorrhagic shock is the second leading cause of death in blunt trauma and a significant cause of mortality in non-trauma patients. The increased use of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) as a bridge to definitive control for massive hemorrhage has provided promising results in the trauma population. We describe an extension of this procedure to our hemodynamically unstable non-trauma patients. ⋯ Brief report.

Case ReportsEASY (endoscopic approach to the symphysis): a new minimally invasive approach for the plate osteosynthesis of the symphysis and the anterior pelvic ring-a cadaver study and first clinical results.
Minimally invasive surgical approaches to reduce approach-associated morbidity are an interdisciplinary goal in surgery. In principle, the endoscopic approach for the extraperitoneal repair of groin hernias is the minimally invasive variant of the modified Stoppa-approach, which is used for the treatment of pelvic ring injuries in traumatology. ⋯ The plate osteosynthesis of the anterior pelvic ring via the minimally invasive variant of the modified Stoppa-approach is feasible with existing standard laparoscopic instruments.
