ReviewUse of halo fixation therapy for traumatic cranio-cervical instability in children: a systematic review.
Traumatic cranio-cervical instability in childhood is rare and constitutes a challenge for the treating surgeon. The aim of therapy is to restore cervical stability without limiting the range of motion. The goal of this systematic review was to find out whether, over the last 10 years, halo fixation (HF) could still be considered a successful treatment option without major risks or complications. ⋯ The current data show that, when used according to the appropriate indication, HF is an effective conservative treatment option for cranio-cervical instability, associated with only minor complications.

Pathologies of the medial talus (e.g., fractures, tarsal coalitions) can lead to symptomatic problems such as pain and nonunion. Bony resection may be a good solution for both. It is unclear how much of the medial talus can be taken before the subtalar joint becomes unstable. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect a limited resection of the medial talar facet and the anteromedial portion of the posterior talar facet has on subtalar stability. ⋯ V.

Review Meta Analysis3D printing-assisted surgery for proximal humerus fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study aimed to assess the efficacy of three-dimensional (3D) printing to conventional surgeries in proximal humerus fractures (PHFs). ⋯ 3D printing-assisted surgery improves operation time, anatomic healing, pain, and motion, with less harm to patients.

Review Meta AnalysisImpact of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) in traumatic abdominal and pelvic exsanguination: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) represents a minimally invasive technique of aortic occlusion (AO). It has been demonstrated to be safe and effective with appropriate training in traumatic hemorrhage with hemodynamic instability; however, its indications are still debated. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the impact of REBOA on mortality in torso trauma patient with severe non-compressible hemorrhage compared to other temporizing hemostatic techniques. ⋯ Level III according to ELIS (SR/MA with up to two negative criteria).

Pediatric femur fractures are a major trauma in children. Different treatment algorithms have been developed but indications for surgical treatment, especially in very young patients, are still controversial. Literature recommends surgical stabilization with elastic-stable intramedullary nailing (ESIN) starting at the age of 3 and non-operative treatment in younger patients. This study sought to present the outcome of patients younger than 3 years of age treated with ESIN for femur fractures. ⋯ Early results with ESIN show a reasonable and safe treatment option for femur fractures in toddlers and young children under the age of 3 with easy postoperative care, fast fracture union and early independent mobilization.
