Analysis of influential factors on surgical outcomes in pediatric femur neck fractures: a single-institution retrospective study.
This retrospective study aimed to evaluate surgical outcomes and identify influential factors in pediatric femoral neck fractures. ⋯ Surgical treatment yielded favorable clinical outcomes; however, limitations due to the study's retrospective design, limited sample size, and single-center approach underscore the necessity for larger multicenter studies. Our findings emphasize the need for comprehensive investigations to better understand and manage pediatric femoral neck fractures, especially regarding factors influencing AVN and long-term outcomes.

Advancing fracture management: the role of minimally invasive osteosynthesis in orthopedic trauma care.
Minimally Invasive Osteosynthesis (MIO) developed to be a key technique in orthopedic trauma surgery, offering a less invasive alternative for managing fractures in various anatomical regions. However, standardized guidelines for its application are lacking. This study aims to establish comprehensive principles for MIO to guide surgeons in treating different types of fractures and its locations. ⋯ This study is classified as Level III evidence according to "The Oxford 2011 Levels of Evidence".

Shock index to predict outcomes in patients with trauma following traffic collisions: a retrospective cohort study.
Taiwan, which has a rate of high vehicle ownership, faces significant challenges in managing trauma caused by traffic collisions. In Taiwan, traffic collisions contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality, with a high incidence of severe bleeding trauma. The shock index (SI) and the modified shock index (MSI) have been proposed as early indicators of hemodynamic instability. In this study, we aimed to assess the efficacy of SI and MSI in predicting adverse outcomes in patients with trauma following traffic collisions. ⋯ SI and MSI are valuable tools for predicting mortality and blood transfusion needs in patients with trauma due to traffic collisions. These findings advance the quality of care for patients with trauma during their transition from the emergency room to the ICU, facilitating prompt and reliable decision-making processes and improving the care of patients with trauma.

Hemoglobin level, degree of mobilization, and pneumonia are associated with the development of postoperative delirium in cemented hemiarthroplasty after femoral neck fracture.
The aim of this retrospective study was to identify independent prognostic factors for developing a postoperative delirium (POD) in patients suffering from a proximal femoral neck fracture and treated by implantation of a hemiprosthesis. ⋯ This study could help to identify patients with a risk for developing POD after a hemiarthroplasty in femoral neck fractures. As a consequence, frequent controls of Hb, IL 6 and leucocytes levels to avoid anemia and infections, as well as the well surgical treatment to guarantee a good postoperative outcome.

Intraoperative Acetabular Fractures in Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty Management and Functional Outcomes.
Intraoperative acetabular fracture (IAF) is a non-common complication of primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). Despite the prevalence of intraoperative periprosthetic fractures are increasing, little has been written about this type of fracture. The main objective is to analyze possible risk factors, treatment options and functional outcomes associated with IAF. ⋯ Although IAF is a rare complication of THA, maintaining a high index of suspicion is important as they can be difficult to identify. Still with an adequate early treatment they have poor functionality and high risk of associated complications.
