Multicenter StudyNo role for standard imaging workup of patients with clinically evident necrotizing soft tissue infections: a national retrospective multicenter cohort study.
To assess the diagnostic contribution of different imaging studies to diagnose necrotizing soft tissue infections (NSTIs) and the time to surgery in relation to imaging with the hypothesis that imaging studies may lead to significant delays without being able to sufficiently dismiss or confirm the diagnosis since a NSTI is a surgical diagnosis. ⋯ In patients with clinically evident NSTIs, there is no role for standard imaging workup unless it is used to examine underlying diseases (e.g., diverticulitis, pancreatitis). In atypical presenting NSTIs, CT or MRI scans provided the most useful information. To prevent unnecessary imaging and radiation and not delay treatment, the decision to perform imaging studies in patients with a clinical suspicion of a NSTI must be made extremely careful.

Evaluation of prehospital preparedness for major incidents on a national level, with focus on mass casualty incidents.
To investigate prehospital preparedness work for Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI) and Major Incidents (MI) in Norway. ⋯ The study indicates considerable variance and gaps among Prehospital Rescue and Emergency Services in Norway regarding MCI/MI preparedness work, calling for national benchmarks, minimum requirements, follow-up routines of the organisations and future reassessments. Implementation of mandatory PLIVO exercises seems to have contributed to interdisciplinary exercises between Fire/Rescue, Police and Ambulance Emergency Service. Repeated standardised surveys can be a useful tool to assess and follow-up the MI preparedness work among Prehospital Rescue and Emergency Services at a national, regional and local level.

Comparative StudyUnconventional mobility, conventional trauma: a comparative analysis of e-scooter-related fractures.
The present research aimed to compare the different types of fractures to those caused by e-scooter use as well as reveal the severity of e-scooter injuries via an epidemiological analysis of fractures over the course of 6 months. ⋯ E-scooter-related fractures and dislocations are typically more severe, often requiring surgery, compared to other fractures during the same period. The study emphasises the link between injury type and increased risk of lower extremity fractures or dislocations.

Observational StudyAssociation between reduced physical performance measures and short-term consequences after major emergency abdominal surgery: a prospective cohort study.
Major emergency abdominal surgery is associated with high morbidity with outcomes worse than for similar elective surgery, including complicated physical recovery, increased need for rehabilitation, and prolonged hospitalisation. ⋯ In patients undergoing major emergency surgery low performance test scores (DEMMI and hand grip strength), were independently associated with the development of significant postoperative complications CD ≥ 3.

The 'Shish-Kebab technique' in intra-articular fractures of the hamate body and concomitant 4th metacarpal base fracture.
Hamate fractures are infrequent and often overlooked wrist injuries. Our objective is to present the Shish-Kebab method, a surgical approach utilized in the treatment of intra-articular Hamate body fractures occurring concurrently with fourth metacarpal base fractures and dislocations. ⋯ In the management of Hamate body intra-articular fractures and accompanying fourth metacarpal base fracture dislocations, good clinical results can be achieved with the 'Shish-Kebab' method in cases where closed reduction is unsuccessful.
