ReviewTargeted prevention of road traffic deaths in Greece: a multifactorial 5-year census-based study.
Between 2012 and 2016, Greece suffered yearly more than 800 deaths from road traffic incidents (RTIs), holding one of the worst performances in the European Union for RTI-related deaths per population. Our primary aim is to identify risk factors associated with mortality to set a targeted policy framework on road safety. ⋯ Human-related factors were the parameters with the strongest impact on mortality after an RTI in Greece. These findings demonstrate an educational gap that must be primarily addressed with the introduction of missing road safety education in schools and an intensified and innovative population awareness campaign.

Randomized Controlled TrialTeam-based learning for teaching musculoskeletal ultrasound skills: a prospective randomised trial.
The aim of this prospective randomised trial was to assess the impact of the team-based learning approach on basic musculoskeletal ultrasound skills in comparison to both peer-assisted and conventional teaching and to examine the influence of gender and learning style on learning outcomes. ⋯ Team-based learning proved to be superior to peer-assisted and conventional teaching of musculoskeletal ultrasound skills.

Dia-metaphyseal fractures of the distal tibia treated with intramedullary nails distally locked with an innovative locking system: a retrospective clinical study.
In this study, we aimed to present our clinical and functional results of distal tibial dia-metaphyseal fractures treated with an intramedullary nail that locks distally with an innovative distal locking system called a distal supportive bolt locking screw (DSBLS). ⋯ The DSBLS provided a stable anchor point for the nail even for very short metaphyseal fragments. It prevented rotation and angulation in both the coronal and sagittal planes without preventing compression, which is mandatory for early weight bearing and bone union.

Pre-hospital trauma care in Switzerland and Germany: do they speak the same language?
Swiss and German (pre-)hospital systems, distribution and organization of trauma centres differ from each other. It is unclear if outcome in trauma patients differs as well. Therefore, this study aims to determine differences in characteristics, therapy and outcome of trauma patients between both German-speaking countries. ⋯ This study demonstrates that patients' age, trauma patterns and pre-hospital care differ between Germany and Switzerland. However, adjusted mortality was almost similar. Further benchmarking studies are indicated to optimize trauma care in both German-speaking countries.

Diagnostic value of intraoperative tap test for acute deltoid ligament injury.
Deltoid ligament injuries appear with isolated or even no displacement of the lateral malleolus fracture which could easily lead to misdiagnosis, which frequently brings about ankle medial instability and talus shift that eventually lead to the occurrence of ankle osteoarthritis. This study is aimed to investigate the value of the tap test for assessing the integrity of the deltoid ligament intraoperatively. ⋯ The tap test has the advantages of high sensitivity, simple operation, and less radiation exposure, suggesting that it is of high diagnostic value for assessing the integrity of the acute deltoid ligament.
