The Aberdeen Weight-Bearing Test (Knee): a new objective test for anterior knee discomfort.
We present the Aberdeen Weight-Bearing Test (Knee), an objective test specific for anterior knee discomfort assessed via load bearing. We assess its validity by performing it on normal subjects with no knee symptoms and subjects who had undergone anterograde tibial nailing. ⋯ The Aberdeen Weight-Bearing Test (Knee) is an objective, easily reproducible, specific test for anterior knee discomfort. It produces different results in individuals who have undergone anterograde tibial nailing compared to individuals with no knee symptoms.

Digital templating without a calibration marker is accurate at predicting implant size for hip hemiarthroplasty.
This study aims to assess the accuracy of digital templating for hip hemiarthroplasty using radiographs without calibration. ⋯ Digital templating of radiographs without calibration can be used to accurately and reliably predict femoral head size and offset at a set magnification of 120%. Femoral stem size, however, is more difficult to template adequately on pre-operative radiographs without calibration.

Mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in polytrauma: Evaluation of bone and liver healing response in an experimental rat model.
Trauma is the most common cause of death of young people in the world. As known, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) accelerate tissue regeneration mechanisms. In our study, we aimed to investigate the effects of MSCs transplantation on the healing of liver and bone tissue by considering trauma secondary inflammatory responses. ⋯ Herewith we have shown that MSC infusion in posttraumatic rats leads to less aggressive and more effective consequences on liver and bone tissue healing. Human MSC treatment for trauma is still in early stages of development; thus standard protocols, and patient inclusion criteria should be established beforehand clinical trials.
