Pelvic fractures are usually the result of high-energy trauma, and sexual dysfunction after a pelvic fracture is an often complication. Though organic pathologies can be the reason for sexual disorders, psychological factors following a trauma may also be linked to sexual problems. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of sexual dysfunction after pelvic fractures, and help these patients with their usually undisclosed sexual problems, and offer them support. ⋯ Retrospective case series.

Trauma team activation criteria in managing trauma patients at an emergency room in Thailand.
Trauma team activation (TTA) criteria were first implemented in the Emergency Department (ED) of Songklanagarind Hospital in 2009 to treat severe trauma patients. ⋯ The trauma team activation criteria improved acute trauma care in the ED which was demonstrated by the decreased EDLOS and mortality rate. A high ISS is the sole parameter predicting mortality.

ReviewEmergency resuscitative thoracotomy performed in European civilian trauma patients with blunt or penetrating injuries: a systematic review.
Emergency resuscitative thoracotomy (ERT) is a lifesaving procedure in selected patients. Indications are still being debated, but outcome in blunt trauma is believed to be poor. Recent reports from European populations, where blunt trauma predominates, have suggested favorable outcome also in blunt trauma. Our aim was to identify all European studies reported over the last decade and compare reported outcomes to existing knowledge. ⋯ The reported outcome after ERT in European civilian trauma populations is favorable, with one in every four ERTs in the ED surviving. Notably, outcome is at variance with previously reported collective data, in particular for blunt trauma. Multicenter, prospective, observational data are needed to validate the modern role of ERT in blunt trauma.
