Factors affecting morbidity and mortality in pancreatic injuries.
Difficulties in the detection of pancreatic damage result in morbidity and mortality in cases of pancreatic trauma. This study was performed to determine factors affecting morbidity and mortality in pancreatic trauma. ⋯ Complications were significantly more common in injuries with higher pancreatic damage scores, additional organ injuries, and blunt abdominal trauma. Pancreatic injury score was associated with morbidity, while the presence of major vascular injury was associated with mortality.

Thorough debridement and immediate primary wound closure for animal bite injuries of the upper limbs.
Animal bite injuries are often encountered in daily practice. In particular, these injuries of the upper limbs can result in severe functional impairment. We have performed early debridement of contaminated tissue and primary closure for these injuries. ⋯ Debridement to achieve wound closure is indispensable in patients with animal bite injuries of the upper limbs. The results of our study suggest that thorough debridement allows primary closure, even for animal bite injuries.

Symphyseal internal rod fixation versus standard plate fixation for open book pelvic ring injuries: a biomechanical study.
This study investigates the biomechanical stability of a novel technique for symphyseal internal rod fixation (SYMFIX) using a multiaxial spinal screw-rod implant that allows for direct reduction and can be performed percutaneously and compares it to standard internal plate fixation of the symphysis. ⋯ In comparison to standard internal plate fixation for the stabilization of open book pelvic ring injuries, symphyseal internal rod fixation using a multiaxial spinal screw-rod implant in vitro shows a similar rigidity and comparable low degrees of displacement.

Post-concussive syndrome after mild head trauma: epidemiological features in Tunisia.
Minor head injury is one of the major diagnoses requiring management in emergency departments (ED) but its squeals are not well studied in our country. ⋯ The two most important findings of this study were the huge proportion of patients having minor head injury and discharged from ED without any explanation of possible symptoms after head trauma and the unknown impacts on life activities.
