Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) patients are known for their triad of micrognathia, glossoptosis, and airway obstruction. Their airway can be a challenge even for the most experienced pediatric anesthesiologist. ⋯ The boy was successfully rescued by finger guided intubation. Finger guide intubation should be added to the anesthesiologist's newborn rescue intubation training.

Lung resection after previous contralateral pneumonectomy is rare. We present a case of right anterior segmentectomy despite previous left pneumonectomy, demanding special airway management strategy. ⋯ Lung cancer radical resection was discouraged after previous contralateral pneumonectomy partly due to the challenging ventilation and isolation. With this new DLT adapting and intubation technique showed in this case, the challenging ventilation and isolation that deter the implementation of the operation mentioned above could be solved.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Dexmedetomidine and sufentanil combination versus sufentanil alone for postoperative intravenous patient-controlled analgesia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Previous studies have demonstrated that dexmedetomidine improves the quality of postoperative analgesia. In the present study, we performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to quantify the effect of dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to sufentanil for postoperative patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). ⋯ Dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to sufentanil for postoperative PCA can reduce postoperative pain score and sufentanil consumption.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of the effect of different degrees of passive leg raising on the internal jugular vein cross-sectional area in patients before thoracic surgery.
This study investigated the effect of different degrees of passive leg raising (PLR) on the internal jugular vein (IJV) cross-sectional area (CSA) and on the success rate of IJV cannulation in patients waiting for thoracic surgery, to analyze whether body mass index (BMI), gender, age, fasting time and preoperative rehydration have any impact on changes in the IJV CSA. ⋯ PLR increases the CSA of the right IJV, especially for patients with long fasting times before thoracic surgery. The effect of the 30-degree PLR position is similar to that of the 50-degree PLR position. However, the success rate of right IJV catheterization was not enhanced in this study using landmark-guided puncture, even though the CSA of the right IJV was increased.

Association between fluctuations in serum chloride levels and 30-day mortality among critically ill patients: a retrospective analysis.
Serum chloride level fluctuation in the first 72 h of ICU admission is independently associated with increased 30-day mortality.
