Continuous and noninvasive hemoglobin (Hb) monitoring during surgery is essential for anesthesiologists to make transfusions decisions. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of noninvasive and continuous Hb monitoring using transesophageal descending aortic photoplethysmography (dPPG) in porcine model. ⋯ It is feasible to establish a noninvasive and continuous Hb monitoring by transesophageal dPPG signal. The ACred/DCred extracted from the dPPG signal could provide a sensitive prediction of the Hb threshold for transfusion. The Hb concentration measured by dPPG signal has a moderate correlation with that measured by blood gas analysis. This animal study may provide an experimental basis for the development of bedside HbdPPG monitoring in the future.

There is limited research on the combined use of propofol and esketamine for anesthesia induction during flexible laryngeal mask airway (FLMA) in pediatric patients, and the effective dosage of propofol for FLMA smooth insertion remains unclear. We explored the effective dose of propofol combined with intravenous esketamine for the smooth insertion of FLMA in two distinct age groups of preschool children. ⋯ The effective dose of propofol when combined with intravenous esketamine for smooth insertion of FLMA in children aged 1-3 years is 2.67 mg.kg- 1, which is higher than that in children aged 3-6 years (2.10 mg. kg- 1).

Comparison of the analgesic effect of dezocine and esketamine in combination with sufentanil respectively after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a prospective randomized controlled study.
Sufentanil in combination with dezocine or esketamine is often used for postoperative analgesia. However, there is a lack of clinical evidence of efficacy. This study compares the analgesic effects of esketamine and dezocine combined with sufentanil for relieving pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC). ⋯ For postoperative pain after LC, 1.5mg/kg esketamine provided better analgesia and reduced inflammation levels than 0.3mg/kg dezocine.

To systematically review the evidence about the effect of haloperidol on postoperative delirium in elderly patients. ⋯ The meta-analysis revealed perioperative application of haloperidol could decrease the occurrence of postoperative delirium without obvious side effects in elderly people, and high-dose haloperidol (5 mg daily) possessed a greater positive effect.

Previous reports argue that preoperative sleep conditions of patients can influence the dosage of general anaesthesia drugs. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the dose-effect relationship of preoperative sleep disorders on the induction of general anaesthesia with remimazolam tosilate and calculate the Median effective (ED50) and 95% effective (ED95) dosages. ⋯ In the SD group, the ED50 and ED95 of remimazolam during anaesthesia induction were 0.226 and 0.237 mg/kg, respectively. The induction dose of remimazolam in the SD group was significantly higher than that in the NSD group.
