Ambu® AuraGain™ laryngeal airway (AuraGain) is one of the newer supraglottic airway device introduced in 2014. Cervical spine stabilisation with hard cervical collar makes insertion of supraglottic airways and tracheal intubation difficult. This study was conducted to investigate whether the presence of a cervical collar affects the oropharyngeal sealing pressure (OSP) and fibreoptic view of the glottis (Brimacombe score) in airways secured with the AuraGain. ⋯ We conclude that the Ambu AuraGain can be used to provide effective ventilation in patients whose cervical spine is immobilised with a hard cervical collar.

Full Outline of UnResponsiveness (FOUR) score is a more comprehensive score used to assess eye response, motor response, brainstem reflexes, and respiration that was introduced to overcome the drawbacks of Glasgow coma scale (GCS) score. Our aim was to assess which score best predicts mortality and poor outcome in aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) patients. ⋯ FOUR score is among the most specific and moderately sensitive tool for prediction of mortality. However, WFNS and HH grade are more specific in predicting the 28-day outcome.

Measurement of end-tidal anaesthetic gas concentrations (ETAG) is currently a pragmatic indicator for monitoring anaesthetic depth. We aimed to assess the performance of ETAG for sevoflurane (ETAG-sevo) with bispectral index (BIS) and difference between inspired and end-tidal oxygen concentration (Fi-Et)O2% in measuring anaesthetic depth in toddlers and preschool children. Primary outcome was to correlate BIS with ETAG-sevo. Secondary outcome was to correlate (Fi-Et)O2% with ETAG-sevo and to derive cut-off value of (Fi-Et)O2%which corresponds with light planes of anaesthesia [minimum alveolar concentration (MAC <0.6)]. ⋯ BIS was an unreliable measure of anaesthetic depth. (Fi-Et)O2% values >7 corresponded with light planes of anaesthesia.

Ultrasound-guided serratus anterior plane (SAP) block has been described to provide complete anaesthesia and analgesia to the lateral thoracic wall. Its use has been recently reported in breast reconstruction surgeries. ⋯ This resulted in excellent analgesia in the perioperative period and minimal use of intravenous analgesics. The SAP block technique described here is safe and also provides effective analgesia in breast reconstruction surgery with LD flap.

Several locoregional techniques have been described for providing postoperative analgesia after breast surgery. The optimal technique should be easy to perform, reproducible and provide good analgesia. This randomised control study was designed to evaluate the postoperative analgesic effect of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane (US-guided ESP) block for modified radical mastectomy (MRM) surgery. ⋯ US-guided ESP block when given prior to MRM surgery provided effective postoperative analgesia.
