Randomized Controlled Trial
A prospective placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of onion extract in silicone derivative gel for the prevention of hypertrophic scar and keloid in median sternotomy wound in pediatric patients.
New topical treatments studied in adults have been published to be potentially effective in the treatment of hypertrophic scar and keloids. There is still no study in Thai children. ⋯ Onion extract in silicone derivative gel can significantly decreased the incidence of hypertrophic scar from median sternotomy wound in pediatric patients. Keloid did not show statistically significant differences in both groups.

Comparison the incidence of emergence agitation between sevoflurane and desflurane after pediatric ambulatory urologic surgery.
To compare the incidence and severity of emergence agitation, recovery profile, and adverse events between desflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia in unpremedicated pediatric ambulatory urologic surgery patients. ⋯ The occurrence of EA and adverse events between sevoflurane and desflurane were not different, except that the overall of intraoperative respiratory events was higher in desflurane group.

Efficacy of benzydamine hydrochloride dripping at endotracheal tube cuff for prevention of postoperative sore throat.
Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a frequent consequence following ETT intubation, which may negatively affect the postoperative course and patient satisfaction. Benzydamine hydrochloride is a topically-applied non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). The authors evaluated the analgesic effect of benzydamine hydrochloride dripping on the ETT cuff on POST. ⋯ We found that dripping benzydamine hydrochloride on the ETT cuff neither reduced the incidence of POST nor increased the incidence of adverse effects in comparison with no intervention.

Pharmacodynamics of meropenem in critically ill patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Pharmacokinetic changes have been found in critically ill patients, including ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) when compared with healthy volunteers leading to fluctuation of plasma concentrations. ⋯ A 3-hour infusion of 2 g of meropenem regimen was predicted to have the highest PTA rates. Only the prolonged infusion regimens achieved a high CFR against E. coli, Klebsiella spp., P. aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter spp.

Comparison of the clinical outcomes between unattended home APAP and polysomnography manual titration in obstructive sleep apnea patients.
To compare the clinical outcomes and determine the difference in therapeutic pressure between Automatic positive airway pressure (APAP) and polysomnography manual titration. ⋯ An APAP titration is an effective method of pressure determination for conventional CPAP therapy and shows no difference in clinical outcomes comparing the standard titration.
