Patient factors associated with diabetes medication adherence at different health literacy levels: a cross-sectional study at a family medicine clinic.
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) incurs tremendous health costs associated with various complications due to poor diabetes control. Medication adherence, which is correlated with patients' health literacy, should be consistently practiced achieving optimal diabetes control. A deeper understanding of the specific communication and psychosocial factors related to medication-taking behaviors across different levels of health literacy among people with T2D will guide the development of effective interventions and strategies to enhance medication adherence. ⋯ Findings suggest that practitioners should address concern beliefs among low-adherent patients with low health literacy, help improve self-efficacy, and address perceived barriers to medication adherence among all low-adherent patients to optimally support patients' diabetes care.

A U-shaped association between serum uric acid with all-cause mortality in normal-weight population.
It is uncertain how serum uric acid (SUA) associated with all-cause mortality among people with normal weight, hence was explored in this study. ⋯ In normal-weight population, SUA was seemed to be a U-shaped relationship with all-cause mortality.

A survey of physician experience and treatment satisfaction using fast-acting insulin aspart in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
This survey aimed to explore real-world physician experiences and treatment satisfaction with fast-acting insulin aspart (faster aspart) in clinical practice across Europe and Canada. ⋯ Reported physician and patient experiences of using faster aspart have been positive, and better PPG control and increased dosing flexibility are expected to improve glycemic management.

Hospital mortality and long-term mortality among hospitalized patients with various admission serum ionized calcium levels.
We conducted a single-center historical cohort study to evaluate the association between admission serum ionized calcium and mortality in hospitalized patients. ⋯ Both hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia were associated with increased short- and long-term mortality with a U-shape relationship.

Case ReportsPrimary hyperparathyroidism associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma: a case report and literature review.
Primary hyperparathyroidism is the third most common endocrine disease, while primary hyperparathyroidism associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL) is extremely rare. We report a case of primary hyperparathyroidism associated with NHL. The first symptom of this patient was hypercalcemia. ⋯ Clinically, patients with hypercalcemia as the first symptom should be alert to the coexistence of their two diseases. As primary hyperparathyroidism and NHL occur simultaneously, the relationship between the two diseases requires further study. A review of the literature regarding primary hyperparathyroidism associated with NHL was performed, focusing on clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and the connection.
