Predicting fetal loss in severe acute pancreatitis during pregnancy: a 5-year single-tertiary-center retrospective analysis.
To determine the factors that predict fetal loss in patients with severe acute pancreatitis. ⋯ Severe acute pancreatitis during pregnancy leads to a high rate of fetal mortality. Gestational trimester, delayed diagnosis, HTG, MOF, gestational diabetes mellitus, and preeclampsia are predictors of fetal loss. Therefore, close monitoring is essential for pregnancies complicated with HTG, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension.

Application of Narrow-Band Imaging thoracoscopy in diagnosis of pleural diseases.
Patients with undiagnostic pleural effusions are routinely examined by conventional medical thoracoscopy under the white light (WL). The endoscopic appearance of pleural diseases under WL could be misleading. Narrow-Band Imaging (NBI) has been applied as an interesting and effective diagnostic tool for endoscopy. However, there is also controversy about its value in the application of thoracoscopy. ⋯ The advantage of NBI lies in its high specificity. It's useful to diagnose unknown pleural effusions in clinical practice. With better visualization of blood vessels, we can enhance the accuracy of biopsy and reduce the risk of unexpected bleeding arose from the biopsy.

Association between regular aerobic exercise and hyperhomocysteine in hypertensive patients.
The relationship between total plasma homocysteine (tHcy) and exercise remains controversial. This study aimed to investigate the association between regular aerobic exercise and hyperhomocysteine (hHcy) in patients with hypertension. ⋯ Regular aerobic exercise has a negative association with hHcy in this cross-sectional study. That suggests a hypothesis that doing aerobic exercise might decrease the risk of hHcy in hypertensive patients.

ReviewOsteoarthritis and inflammation: a serious disease with overlapping phenotypic patterns.
Globally, osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent arthritic condition in those aged over 60 years. OA has a high impact on patient disability and is associated with a significant economic burden. Pain is the most common first sign of disease and the leading cause of disability. ⋯ This review focuses on what we feel are three key phenotypes: post-trauma, metabolic, and aging. A greater understanding of OA phenotypes, particularly at the early stages of disease, may be necessary to improve treatment outcomes. In the future, non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments could be tailored to patients based on the key features of their phenotype and disease pathway.

Diabetes mellitus is associated with high sleep-time systolic blood pressure and non-dipping pattern.
Compared to clinic blood pressure (BP), sleep-time BP and non-dipping BP pattern are better predictors of target organ damage and cardiovascular sequalae. ⋯ DM is independently associated with suboptimal 24-hour BP control. This association is mainly attributed to a high sleep-time systolic BP.
