Cognitive and psychosocial outcomes of mechanically ventilated intensive care patients with and without delirium.
Delirium is common in intensive care patients and is associated with short- and long-term adverse outcomes. We investigated the long-term risk of cognitive impairment and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in intensive care patients with and without delirium. ⋯ Intensive care survivors have significant rates of long-term cognitive decline and PTSD symptoms. Delirium in ICU was independently associated with short-term but not long-term cognitive function, and with long-term PTSD symptoms. Clinical outcomes of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China: a large cohort study.
Since December 2019, an outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) initially emerged in Wuhan, China, and has spread worldwide now. Clinical features of patients with COVID-19 have been described. However, risk factors leading to in-hospital deterioration and poor prognosis in COVID-19 patients with severe disease have not been well identified. ⋯ High SOFA score and lymphocytopenia on admission could predict that not severe patients would develop severe disease in-hospital. On admission elevated D-dimer, leukocytopenia, thrombocytopenia and diabetes were independent risk factors of in-hospital death in severe patients with COVID-19. Administration of oseltamivir or ganciclovir might be beneficial for reducing mortality in severe patients.

ReviewSARS-CoV-2 post-infective myocarditis: the tip of COVID-19 immune complications?
Recent paediatric cases of acute myocarditis following a SARS-CoV-2 infection have raised the possibility of post-infective complications of COVID-19. This short editorial is reviewing current understanding of this new complication, its pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapeutic strategy.

Respiratory mechanics and gas exchanges in the early course of COVID-19 ARDS: a hypothesis-generating study.
COVID-19 ARDS could differ from typical forms of the syndrome. ⋯ We observed early in the course of COVID-19 ARDS high VD/VT in association with biological markers of endothelial damage and thrombosis. High VD/VT can be explained by high PEEP settings and added instrumental dead space, with a possible associated role of COVID-19-triggered pulmonary microvascular endothelial damage and microthrombotic process.

Performances of disseminated intravascular coagulation scoring systems in septic shock patients.
There is no gold standard to diagnose septic shock-induced disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The objective of our multicenter prospective study was to assess the performances of the different major scoring systems in terms of mortality prediction and DIC diagnosis. The JAAM-DIC 2016 score, the ISTH overt-DIC 2001 score, the associations of sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC) score with JAAM-DIC 2016 or ISTH overt-DIC scores were tested in patients within 12 h of their admission in ICU for septic shock (day 1) and at day 2. ⋯ Our data suggest that the added value of SIC score alone or combined with other scores is limited, and that both JAAM-DIC score and ISTH overt-DIC score can be used in septic shock patients.
