Comparative Study[Diagnosis and intensive therapy of thermal and inhalation trauma].
The authors made an analysis of an experience with treatment of patients with a combined thermal inhalation injury in the Burn Center of the St. Petersburg Research Institute of emergency medical care named after I. ⋯ A prognostic model with respect to the patient's life was worked out on the basis of complex estimation of the data of the depth and square of the injury of skin, severity of the inhalation trauma and age of the casualty. The authors propose a scale of estimation of the severity of the inhalation trauma with special reference to the probable outcome which allows a differentiated approach to choice of the treatment policy that finally favors reduction of lethality in the group under analysis.

[Significance of invasive monitoring of central hemodynamics for the timely correction of their disturbances in operations on the abdominal aorta].
Central hemodynamics was investigated with the thermistor Swan-Hanz catheter in 50 patients with the Leriche syndrome in whom aorto-femoral bifurcation shunting was performed. It was found that hemodynamic profiles of arterial hypotonia appearing at different stages of the operation can be expressed as hypovolemia, lower peripheral resistance of the vessels or the syndrome of low cardiac ejection. The therapeutic strategy (inotropic maintenance, vasodilators, infusion therapy) should be differentiated depending on the hemodynamic profile of hypotonia.

[Assessment of adequacy of analgesia with spectral analysis of sinus rhythm variability in the maintenance of anesthesia].
A spectral analysis of the sinus rhythm (5-minute groups of cardiointervals) was made in 32 patients during anesthesia by the method of a fast Fourier transform with the estimation of the spectral density in 3 conventional ranges (HF, LF, VLF). Its indices were shown to depend on the stages of anesthesiological maintenance and operative intervention.

Comparative Study[Experience in the use and comparative assessment of the effectiveness of crystalloid and blood cardioplegia].
Due to an increasing attention to questions of adequate protection of the myocardium and widely spread use of the method of blood cardioplegia the authors have made a comparative analysis of effectiveness of using 2 methods of cardioplegia--pharmacocrystalloid and cool blood antegrade cardioplegia: 34 patients were operated upon under conditions of extracorporeal blood circulation for aortic and mitral valve replacement. A comparison was made of 17 patients with intermittent antegrade cool crystalloid cardioplegia (group 1) and 17 patients with intermittent antegrade cold blood cardioplegia (group II). The results have shown that intermittent antegrade cool blood cardioplegia is a safe and effective method for myocardial protection during cardiopulmonary bypass.
