[Hyperoxia-induced up-regulation of Toll-like receptors expression in alveolar epithelial cells].
To examine the correlation between the hyperoxia-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and Toll-like receptors (TLRs) expression in cultured alveolar epithelial cells in order to understand the role of TLRs signaling in inflammatory response during acute lung injury. ⋯ Hyperoxia induced intracellular ROS production can up-regulate TLR2/4 expression in A549 cells, leading to the release pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-8 from these cells.

[Evaluation of the hemodynamic state of critically ill cancer patients with central venous to arterial carbon dioxide difference].
To evaluate the hemodynamic state of critically ill cancer patients using central venous-to-arterial carbon dioxide difference (Pcv-aCO(2)) and to direct the treatment. ⋯ Pcv-aCO(2) could be used as an index of evaluating the cardiac index and the hemodynamic state, and it could be considered to be one of the indices of evaluating the therapeutic effect and prognosis.

[The myocardium protective effects of erythropoietin (EPO) in a rat model of asphyxia-induced cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)].
To examine the effects of EPO administration on the integrity of myocardium in a rat model of asphyxia-induced cardiac arrest/CPR. ⋯ EPO can attenuate the post resuscitation myocardial injury probably through its mitochondrial protective, anti-apoptotic effect.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Platelet parameters and platelet Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expression in patients with sepsis, and the effect of a joint treatment-plan integrating traditional Chinese and western medicine: a clinical study].
To examine the efficacy of a treatment regimen combining modern (Western) medication and a traditional Chinese medicinal recipe Modified Liang-Ge San on sepsis, and its effect on platelet parameters/activation, platelet TLR4 expression and the intensity of inflammatory response in the patients. ⋯ In patients with sepsis, platelet TLR4 expression is elevated together with platelet activation. The joint application of Western medicine and Modified Liang-Ge San may suppress such up-regulation in TLR4/other inflammatory mediators, and alleviate platelet activation/thrombocytopenia in these patients.
