Case Reports[Transforaminal epidural steroid injection and paraplegia: case report and bibliographic review].
We report a patient in whom paraplegia developed following transforaminal epidural injection of a corticosteroid and discuss the physiopathology of this complication, based on a literature survey. ⋯ The occurrence of paraplegia following epidural transforaminal injection of corticosteroids is a rare complication. To our knowledge, only 5 similar cases have been described. Most of the authors proposed that the mechanism of this complication is ischemia of the terminal cone due to accidental suppression of medullary blood supply. Direct lesion of a medullar artery, arterial spasm, or corticosteroid-induced occlusion due to undetected intra-arterial injection could lead to this medullar infarction. Anatomical variations of the path followed by the Adamkievicz artery strongly support this hypothesis.

Case Reports[Radiculopathy following intrathecal baclofen pump implantation].
Intrathecally delivered baclofen has been used as a treatment for severe spasticity since 1984. After a successful intrathecal baclofen trial, a programmable drug delivery system was implanted. Few early complications such as infection or hematoma are observed after this surgery. ⋯ Intrathecal baclofen therapy with a subcutaneously implanted progammable pump can be complicated by radiculalgy secondary to a conflict between the catheter and symptomatic root. The diagnosis is made by CT lumbar scan. If medical treatment is not sufficient, surgery could be proposed to replace the catheter.

Comparative Study[Validity and reliability of Spinal Mouse to assess lumbar flexion].
To evaluate the validity and reliability of the Spinal Mouse model to assess lumbar spine flexion. ⋯ The Spinal Mouse has acceptable metrological properties to assess segmental and global lumbar mobility during trunk flexion. Its metrological properties are not acceptable to assess mobility of L5-S1.

[Assessment of chronic pain as a disability in patients with spinal cord injuries].
To evaluate pain and its impact on daily life activities in patients with spinal cord injuries. ⋯ Despite the small size of our population and lack of a French-language validation of the questionnaire, these preliminary results point out the important interference of chronic pain in functional autonomy and quality of life in patients with spinal cord injuries.

[C-reactive protein, leukocyte count and D-dimer monitoring after orthopedic surgery: early diagnosis of infectious or thromboembolic complications. Part one: C-reactive protein and leukocyte count as an aid in diagnosing postoperative infection].
To evaluate the usefulness of monitoring C-reactive protein (CRP) level and leukocyte count for early diagnosis of infection following orthopedic surgery. ⋯ Measurement of CRP level can be used for early diagnosis of wound infection. In the case of strong clinical suspicion or in the presence of high risk factors, when the level is at 12-fold or more above the normal range, the diagnosis of infection is highly probable.
