To determine if magnetic resonance (MR) imaging T2 mapping can be used to quantify histologic tendon healing by using a rabbit Achilles tendon transection model treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). ⋯ The T2 value changes reflected histologic tendon healing. While T2 and Bonar grade were lower at all time points in tendons treated with PRP, there was no significant difference between the treatment and control tendons.

To determine if first-order and high-order textural features on fluorine 18 ((18)F) fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) images of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (a) at baseline, (b) at 6 weeks, or (c) the percentage change between baseline and 6 weeks can predict response or survival in patients treated with erlotinib. ⋯ Response to erlotinib is associated with reduced heterogeneity at (18)F-FDG PET. Changes in first-order entropy are independently associated with OS and treatment response.

Since its establishment in 1998, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Editorial Fellowship has been offering unique opportunities to radiologists from around the world who have a strong interest in radiologic journalism. For the past 16 years, the selected RSNA Editorial Fellows have learned essential processes involved in the production of Radiology and RadioGraphics by working closely with the editors, associate editors, and staff. The editorial fellowship for radiology attending physicians was renamed the RSNA William R. ⋯ Among the 16 previous editorial fellows who responded, there are four chairs and six vice-chairs of their respective radiology departments. All of them reported that the experience and knowledge they gained from the RSNA Editorial Fellowship was crucial for their academic and professional development. Their views on the experience of being an RSNA Editorial Fellow, accomplishments achieved after the fellowship, and current activities are included here.

Identifying Institutional Diagnostic Reference Levels for CT with Radiation Dose Index Monitoring Software.
To retrospectively evaluate radiation optimization efforts over 4 years for three computed tomography (CT) protocols and to determine institutional (local) diagnostic reference levels for prospective tracking by using automated radiation dose index monitoring software. ⋯ Automated methods of radiation dose data collection permit a detailed analysis of radiation dose according to protocol and equipment over time. Radiation dose optimization measures were effective, but their full value may be realized only with changes in internal processes and real-time, prospective data monitoring and analysis.

To evaluate the safety and angiographic and clinical outcome of stent-assisted coil placement (SACP) for acutely ruptured wide-necked intracranial aneurysms treated in a single center during an 11-year period. ⋯ Angiographic and clinical outcomes in our series were comparable to those reported by using coil placement alone or balloon-assisted coil placement techniques. SACP for the treatment of acutely ruptured middle cerebral artery bifurcation and anterior communicating artery aneurysms was associated with a significantly higher incidence of complications than was the case for treatment of aneurysms at other locations.
