To investigate a computed tomographic (CT) protocol with iterative reconstruction at conventional radiography dose levels for the assessment of structural lung abnormalities in patients with cystic fibrosis ( CF cystic fibrosis ). ⋯ For patients with CF cystic fibrosis , a dedicated chest CT protocol can replace the two yearly follow-up chest radiographic examinations without major dose penalty and with similar diagnostic quality compared with conventional CT.

To use magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and advanced analysis to assess the role of lesions in normal-appearing white matter ( NAWM normal-appearing white matter ) and gray matter ( GM gray matter ) damage, global versus regional damage, and atrophy versus microstructural abnormalities in the pathogenesis of fatigue in multiple sclerosis ( MS multiple sclerosis ). ⋯ Damage to strategic brain WM white matter and GM gray matter regions, in terms of microstructural abnormalities and atrophy, contributes to pathogenesis of fatigue in MS multiple sclerosis , whereas global lesional, WM white matter , and GM gray matter damage does not seem to have a role.

To determine whether semiquantitative perfusion magnetic resonance (MR) imaging parameters are associated with therapeutic effectiveness of MR imaging-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU high-intensity focused ultrasound ) ablation of uterine fibroids and which semiquantitative perfusion parameters are significant with regard to treatment efficiency. ⋯ Relative peak enhancement at semiquantitative perfusion MR imaging was significantly associated with treatment efficiency of MR imaging-guided HIFU high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation of uterine fibroids, and a value of 220% or less is suggested as a screening guideline for more efficient treatment.

To demonstrate the feasibility of dynamic four-dimensional ( 4D four-dimensional ) intranodal contrast material-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) lymphangiography with inguinal lymph node injection of gadopentetate dimeglumine. ⋯ Dynamic 4D four-dimensional contrast-enhanced MR lymphangiography with intranodal injection of gadopentetate dimeglumine is feasible, produces good images of the central lymphatic system, and demonstrates the time course of flow of contrast agent up the central lymphatic ducts. On the basis of the results of this initial animal experiment, it appears that dynamic 4D four-dimensional contrast-enhanced MR lymphangiography is potentially feasible and safe with commercially available contrast agents.

Recanalization and clinical outcome of occlusion sites at baseline CT angiography in the Interventional Management of Stroke III trial.
To use baseline computed tomographic (CT) angiography to analyze imaging and clinical end points in an Interventional Management of Stroke III cohort to identify patients who would benefit from endovascular stroke therapy. ⋯ Significant differences were identified between treatment arms for 24-hour recanalization in proximal occlusions; carotid T- or L-type and tandem ICA and M1 occlusions showed greater recanalization and a trend toward better outcome with endovascular treatment. Vascular imaging should be mandated in future endovascular trials to identify such occlusions. Online supplemental material is available for this article.
