To determine whether the addition of arterial phase computed tomography (CT) to the standard combination of portal venous and delayed phase imaging increases sensitivity in the diagnosis of active hemorrhage and/or contained vascular injuries in patients with splenic trauma. ⋯ The arterial phase of image acquisition improves detection of traumatic contained splenic vascular injuries and should be considered to optimize detection of splenic injuries in trauma with CT.

To determine if arterial spin-labeling (ASL) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging can show serial changes in renal perfusion in mice with ischemia-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and to compare imaging results with those of renal histologic examination and inulin and para-aminohippuric acid (PAH) clearance. ⋯ ASL allows evaluation of renal perfusion impairment associated with kidney volume loss and histologic changes after AKI in mice and may serve as a noninvasive biomarker for AKI.

Probably benign lesions at screening breast US in a population with elevated risk: prevalence and rate of malignancy in the ACRIN 6666 trial.
To prospectively validate predefined breast ultrasonographic (US) Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) category 3 criteria in a multicenter setting in an elevated-risk population. ⋯ As BI-RADS category 3 lesions have a low malignancy rate (0.8%; 95% CI: 0.3%, 1.7%) and only 0.1% of the cancers had suspicious changes at 6-month follow-up and only one (17%; 95% CI: 0.4%, 64%) of six malignancies were node positive at detection (24-month follow-up), a recommendation of 1-year diagnostic follow-up may be appropriate for BI-RADS category 3 lesions detected at screening US. To perform static breath-hold fluorine 19 ((19)F) three-dimensional (3D) ultrashort echo time (UTE) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the lungs in healthy volunteers by using a mixture of 79% perfluoropropane (PFP) and 21% O2. ⋯ This study demonstrates the feasibility of (19)F 3D UTE static breath-hold MR imaging of human lungs with inert fluorinated gases.

Comparative Study
Comparison of tomosynthesis plus digital mammography and digital mammography alone for breast cancer screening.
To compare screening recall rates and cancer detection rates of tomosynthesis plus conventional digital mammography to those of conventional digital mammography alone. ⋯ Patients undergoing tomosynthesis plus digital mammography had significantly lower screening recall rates. The greatest reductions were for those younger than 50 years and those with dense breasts. A nonsignificant 9.5% increase in cancer detection was observed in the tomosynthesis group.
