Randomized Controlled TrialSupraglottic jet oxygenation and ventilation during colonoscopy under monitored anesthesia care: a controlled randomized clinical trial.
Supraglottic jet oxygenation and ventilation may provide active pulse oxygenation and ventilation in patients with respiratory suppression. This randomized controlled clinical study was designed to determine the efficacy and safety of supraglottic jet oxygenation/ventilation during monitored anesthesia care (MAC) by intravenous (IV) infusion of propofol in patients undergoing colonoscopy. ⋯ SJV can provide adequate oxygenation/ventilation during monitored anesthesia care and convenient monitoring for patients' breath, without complications.

The effect of permissive hypotension in combined traumatic brain injury and blunt abdominal trauma: an experimental study in swines.
Optimal hemodynamic resuscitation strategy of the trauma patient with uncontrolled hemorrhage and severe head injury in the pre-hospital setting remains a special challenge. Permissive hypotension prior to definite surgical haemostasis promotes coagulation, decreases blood loss and favors survival. However, hypotension is associated with poor outcome in severe head injury. The purpose of this experimental animal study was to assess the impact of permissive hypotension on survival, hemodynamic profile and brain oxygenation parameters before and/or after definite surgical haemostasis. ⋯ Permissive hypotension by delaying fluid resuscitation up to definite surgical haemostasis improves survival, hemodynamics and allows restoration of cerebral oxygenation in severe head injury.

BNP shows myocardial injury earlier than Troponin-I in experimental carbon monoxide poisoning.
In this study, our purpose was to determine whether plasma BNP level can be useful or not in determining the severity of myocardial injury formed by CO poisoning and to compare plasma BNP level with serum cTnI level. ⋯ It was found that BNP levels increased earlier than cTnI levels in acute severe CO poisoning. BNP levels of the cases which were determined to have increased cTnI levels showing myocardial injury increased as well. BNP can show myocardial injury and its severity in acute CO poisoning.
