[Treatment of sequelae after Monteggia lesions in childhood].
To review the current methods of operative management of post-traumatic chronic radial head dislocation in chronic Monteggia lesions in children. ⋯ The operative treatment of consequences after Monteggia fractures in children has a relatively high rate of complications and unpredictable results. Indications for reconstruction involve a normal articular surface of the radial head and a normal alignment of the radius and ulna. Key words: Monteggia fracture, consequences, reconstruction surgery, childhood.

Motion-preservation technologies for spinal disorders have evolved and come into use in the last decade. Three principal systems are currently available: total disc replacement, posterior neutralisation transpedicular system and interspinous implants. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate our group of lumbar total disc replacements at a follow-up of 2 years. ⋯ Based on the results it can be concluded that total disc replacement is an efficient method of treating degenerative intervertebral disc disease of the lumbar spine in young, active and motivated patients with no posterior spinal structure degeneration.

ReviewPelvic ring injuries in children. Part I: Epidemiology and primary evaluation. A review of the literature.
Pediatric pelvic injury is of major significance despite these injuries in children are rare with a suspected yearly rate of 3% of all pelvic injuries. The special pediatric bone anatomy of the pelvis is responsible for different fracture patterns, and overall, a bony or joint injury of the pelvis is an indicator of a severe trauma. The vast majority of pediatric pelvic fractures is the result of a high-energy trauma, especially after strucking by a car or injured as motor vehicle passengers. ⋯ But several long-term sequelae can occur in unstable pelvic injuries depending on the instability of the child's pelvis at the time of injury. Overall, there is a good correlation between the clinical and radiological result. Risk factors for a worse result can be additional significant peripelvic injuries (complex pelvic trauma).

ReviewCurrent concepts in fractures of the distal femur.
This paper describes current treatment strategies of distal femoral fractures as well as their evidence based rationale. The treatment of distal femoral fractures has improved with the evolution of plating and nailing technologies. The commonly selected surgical approaches are outlined and surgical treatment techniques including both internal and external fixation are discussed.

ReviewTreatment of proximal humeral fractures - a review of current concepts enlightened by basic principles.
Fractures of the proximal humerus commonly affect elderly patients. The vast majority of proximal humeral fractures result from low-energy trauma in presence of osteoporosis. Incidence of proximal humeral fractures dramatically increased over the last decades. ⋯ Outcome of hemiarthroplasty is closely related to anatomical tuberosity healing and restoration of rotator cuff function. Reverse shoulder arthroplasty may provide satisfactory shoulder function in geriatric patients, rotator cuff dysfunction or failure of first-line treatment. Choice of treatment should be individualized and base on careful evaluation of patient-specific, fracture-specific and surgeon-specific aspects.
