An outbreak of a novel, zoonotic coronavirus occurred in December 2019 in the city of Wuhan, China and has now affected almost the entire world, with the maximum confirmed cases being 1 521 252 as of April 10, 2020. The WHO named this coronavirus 2019-nCoV, with COVID-19 being the name for diseases allied with it. ⋯ First-level treatments include repurposing antivirals and antimalarials, and plasma infusion should help, but development of existing or new molecules into vaccines will take time. The unpredictable trajectory of this outbreak demands careful surveillance to monitor the situation, draw strategies, implement control measures, and create proper ethical laws and medical guidelines.

ReviewA Narrative Review of Complementary Nutritional Supplements for Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy.
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common troublesome side effect and affects long-term activities of daily living. This neuropathic disorder is still difficult to treat with current clinical treatments. The aim of this study was to investigate and offer an updated perspective of complementary therapies for CIPN. ⋯ Nutritional therapists seem to recommend nutrient supplements as potential anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective agents for both the prevention and management of CIPN. An understanding of this evolving literature is useful in exploring these therapies with patients who are considering using them. However, their effects against CIPN are still controversial due to the undetermined neuropathic mechanisms of different antineoplastic agents and complex drug interactions. Further research on these agents is warranted.

Adjuvant Therapy: YiqiDitanTongfu Decoction With External Diaphragm Pacer for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients With Difficulty Weaning From Mechanical Ventilation.
Global morbidity from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is high worldwide. Diaphragm pacing (DP) can maintain the natural, negative pressure breathing of COPD patients with diaphragmatic muscle dysfunction. The YiqiDitanTongfu (YDTF) decoction has been used clinically with COPD patients to help them to wean from mechanical ventilation, with their ventilation functions being improved and the success rate of weaning being largely increased. ⋯ The DP plus the YDTF concoction acted as a successful treatment for heart failure caused by CPOD in comparison with the DP or YDTF alone, providing evidence that the DP + YDTF concoction can serve as a competitive method for helping COPD patients to wean from mechanical ventilation.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effects Of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy On Pain, Disability And Life Quality Of Chronic Low Back Pain Patients.
Low back pain is the most common form of pain related to the musculoskeletal system disorders. ESWT has been suggested as a new treatment modality in CLBP and its effectiveness has been investigated in a small number of studies. ⋯ The results of our study have shown that ESWT had a statistically significant superiority over placebo for improvement in the parameters of pain, disability, depression, anxiety, and quality of life in the patients with CLBP.
