To evaluate the effect of different solutions administered to patients undergoing stem cell transplantation on oral mucositis. ⋯ The use of black mulberry and calcium-phosphate solutions was found to be beneficial in preventing and treating oral mucositis.

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is aimed at accelerated rehabilitation after surgery, and involves a multidisciplinary approach. Significant work has been published on this concept with regards to abdominal surgeries, however, the idea is relatively new for those undergoing neurosurgical procedures. We have reviewed literature on ERAS in patients undergoing craniotomy for brain tumours.

The clinical effect of classical music and lullaby on term babies in neonatal intensive care unit: A randomised controlled trial.
To investigate the effect of music during routine nursing care on full-term newborns physiological measurements, hospital stay and stress symptoms. ⋯ Lullaby and classical music application during routine nursing care showed the potential to maintain physiological parameters and in reducing stress.

The global burden of surgical disease is immense. Increasingly in the past several decades, international humanitarian medical missions have become more popular as a method of managing the sheer volume of patients requiring medical care worldwide. Medical education programmes have also had an increase in interest amongst medical students and surgical residents to participate in missions during training. ⋯ It comprised relevant literatur obtained from Medline (ubMed) using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A total of 15 publications were reviewed with each falling into one of the threeidentified categories:programme design (goals/objectives), ethics, and post-experience analysis. The benefits of providing international missions opportunities for surgical trainees cannot be understated.
