[Development of an algorithm for wrist oscillometric blood pressure-measurement using singular value decomposition].
In order to eliminate the intrinsic noise due to special structure of the wrist, a new curve fitting algorithm based on singular value decomposition (SVD) was developed to increase the measurement accuracy. This algorithm could be subdivided into SVD and curve fitting algorithm (SCFA). SVD was used to extract the dominant component of oscillation waves at wrist. ⋯ To test the performance of SCFA, 45 subjects underwent the ABP measurement with different methods. The correlation coefficient between the pooled blood pressure measured by the auscultation and those by SCFA was 0.96. Comparison the results of SCFA with those of traditional curve fitting algorithm (TCFA), we found that the proposed SCFA could be used to reduce the partial intrinsic interference and efficiently improve the accuracy of the ABP at wrist.

[Study on predicting model for acute hypotensive episodes in ICU based on support vector machine].
The occurrence of acute hypotensive episodes (AHE) in intensive care units (ICU) seriously endangers the lives of patients, and the treatment is mainly depended on the expert experience of doctors. In this paper, a model for predicting the occurrence of AHE in ICU has been developed using the theory of medical Informatics. ⋯ On this basis, we also compared different models consisted of different kernel functions. Experiments demonstrated that this approach performed well on classification and prediction, which would contribute to forecast the occurrence of AHE.

[Application of 5-second heart rate variability parameter based on poincare plot in real-time monitoring of the autonomic nervous system activity].
This study designed one index of HRV from Poincaré plot named 5SSD1 by the present authors, which can describe the characteristics of the heart rate dynamics with 5-second data. We also investigated the feasibility of its clinical application in real-time monitoring of the activity of autonomic nervous system. We studied 20 patients scheduled for oral maxillofacial surgery. ⋯ The correlation between 5SSD1 and indicators, such as rMSSD, HF and SD1 of 5-minute HRV was significantly high, with r=0.995, 0.895, 0.996, respectively, at P<0.01 for all. However, the correlation between 5SSD1 and the other indicators of 5-minute HRV was relatively poor. It was proved that 5SSD1 could be used to assess the activities of the autonomic nervous system in real-time, and the stable and reliable results might play more roles in the clinical applications.

[Hurst index based analysis of sinus arrhythmia and atrial arrhythmia].
This study sought to disclose whether Hurst index can be used as a criterion for distinguishing sinus and atrial arrhythmia signals. Normal sinus rhythm beats, atrial premature contraction (APC) beats, and sinus bradycardia (SBR) signals, were taken from the MIT-BIH standard database. ⋯ The data indicated that the long-term relevant character was the best for normal signal, better for sinus bradycardia, and the worst for atrial premature beats. So Hurst index is a useful identification criterion for distinguishing sinus and atrial arrhythmia signals.
