[Particle swarm optimization fuzzy modeling and closed-loop anaesthesia control based on cerebral state index].
Due to individual differences of the depth of anaesthesia (DOA) controlled objects, the drawbacks of monitoring index, the traditional PID controller of anesthesia depth could not meet the demands of nonlinear control. However, the adjustments of the rules of DOA fuzzy control often rely on personal experience and, therefore, it could not achieve the satisfactory control effects. ⋯ Experimental results indicated that this system could reach the set CSI point accurately, rapidly and stably, with no obvious perturbation in the presence of noise. The fuzzy controller based on CSI which has been optimized by PSO has better stability and robustness in the DOA closed loop control system.

Review[Systematic review of transfusion strategies for cardiac surgery].
This paper is aimed to assess the effects of red blood cell (RBC) transfusion on clinical outcomes in cardiac surgery. Trials were identified by computer searches of the Pubmed, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library (Issue 10, 2012), from January 1980 to October 2012. References in identified trials and review articles were checked and experts contacted to identify any additional trials. ⋯ No significant difference was noted between the two strategies in terms of mortality, adverse events and hospital or intensive care length of stay. Based on the results mentioned above, one can draw a conclusion that restrictive transfusion strategies reduced the risk of receiving RBC transfusion and the volume of RBCs transfused. Restrictive transfusion strategies did not appear to impact on the rate of adverse events and hospital or intensive care length of stay, compared to liberal transfusion strategies.

Review[Application of the inspiratory impedance threshold device and its research progress].
The inspiratory impedance threshold device (ITD) was put forward by Lurie in 1995, and was assigned as a class II a recommendation by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) resuscitation guidelines in 2005. The ITD is used to augment negative intrathoracic pressure during recoil of the chest so as to enhance venous return and cardiac output, and to decrease intracranial pressure. In the recent years many researches on the ITD have been1 carried out, but all the researches can not take out a clear evidence to support or refute the use of the ITD. This paper introduces the structure and working principle of the ITD in detail, the research results and the debates about the use of the ITD for the past years.

Since smart phones have been developed, significant advances in the function of mobile phone due to the development of software, hardware and accessories have been reached. Till now, smart phones have been engaged in daily life with an increasing impact. ⋯ Nowadays, the scientific and technological issues related to mobile phone medicine have attracted worldwide attention. In this review, we summarize state-of-the-art advances of mobile phone medicine with focus on its diagnostics applications in order to expand the fields of their applications and promote healthcare informatization.

[Development and animal tests of a miniaturized electrical chest compression device].
This paper introduces the development and animal tests of a miniaturized electrical chest compression device. Based on pulse width modulation technology produced by micro control unit, the device can control the frequency and depth of the compression accurately, as well as perform real-time adjustment. ⋯ Besides, the device can also produce different types of compression waveforms, including trapezoidal and triangular waveforms. Then, the performance and efficacy of the device was assessed with a rat model of asphyxial cardiac arrest (CA).
