Superselective intra-arterial chemotherapy in the primary management of advanced intra-ocular retinoblastoma: first 4-year experience from a single institution in Turkey.
To report our 4-year experience in Turkey, with advanced intra-ocular retinoblastoma managed primarily with intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC). ⋯ Our first 4-year experience in Turkey showed that enucleation or external-beam radiotherapy could be avoided in two-thirds of eyes with advanced intra-ocular retinoblastoma managed primarily with IAC.

Comparative StudyAflibercept vs. Ranibizumab: cost-effectiveness of treatment for wet age-related macular degeneration in Sweden.
Monthly dosing with ranibizumab (RBZ) is needed to achieve maximal visual gains in patients with neovascular ('wet') age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). In Sweden, dosing is performed as needed (RBZ PRN), resulting in suboptimal efficacy. Intravitreal aflibercept (IVT-AFL) every 2 months after three initial monthly doses was clinically equivalent to RBZ monthly dosing (RBZ q4) in wAMD clinical trials. We assessed the cost-effectiveness of IVT-AFL versus RBZ q4 and RBZ PRN in Sweden. ⋯ Results suggest, in Sweden, at parity price level, IVT-AFL is less costly than RBZ q4, while demonstrating similar efficacy; IVT-AFL is cost-effective versus RBZ PRN.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparative study of combined bevacizumab/targeted photocoagulation vs bevacizumab alone for macular oedema in ischaemic branch retinal vein occlusions.
To investigate whether targeted retinal photocoagulation (TRP) of peripheral non-perfused areas (NPAs) could prevent the recurrence of macular oedema (ME) due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) after intravitreal bevacizumab injection (IVB). ⋯ TRP of NPAs reduced the amount of ME recurrence following IVB compared to IVB alone.

Validity of the temporal-to-nasal macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness ratio as a diagnostic parameter in early glaucoma.
To evaluate the diagnostic validity of temporal-to-nasal macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness (TNM) ratio using Cirrus high definition-optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT) in patients with early glaucomatous damage. ⋯ Asymmetry of temporal-to-nasal mGCIPL thickness could be an important parameter in the diagnosis of early glaucoma with paracentral VF defects.

Comparative StudyModified big-bubble technique compared to manual dissection deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty in the treatment of keratoconus.
To evaluate the clinical findings and results of manual dissection deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) compared to a modified big-bubble DALK technique in eyes affected by keratoconus. ⋯ Manual DALK provides comparable results to big-bubble DALK. Big-bubble DALK permits faster visual recovery and is a surgical technique, which can be easily converted to manual DALK in cases of unsuccessful 'big-bubble' formation.
