Clinical observation of particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with total hip arthroplasty for acetabular reconstruction.
To investigate the effect of particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with total hip arthroplasty (THA) for acetabular reconstruction in patients with posttraumatic arthritis and bone loss after acetabular fractures. ⋯ Particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with THA as a biological solution is an attractive procedure for acetabular reconstruction in patients with posttraumatic arthritis and bone loss after acetabular fracture, which can not only restore acetabular bone stock but also repair normal hip anatomy and its function.

Endoscopic transforaminal lumbar decompression, interbody fusion and pedicle screw fixation-a report of 42 cases.
To evaluate the surgical procedure of endoscopic transforminal discectomy, bone grafting and Dynalok pedicle screw fixation under X-Tube operation system in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation combined with segmental instability and/or pars defected spondylolithesis. ⋯ This surgical procedure of endoscopic transforminal diskectomy, bone grafting, cage placement and pedicle screw fixation can be effectively accomplished under X-Tube operation system with predominant benefits such as small incision, less stripping of paraspinal muscles, minimal blood loss and rapid postoperative recovery.

Efficacy of large decompressive craniectomy in severe traumatic brain injury.
To investigate the role of large decompressive craniectomy (LDC) in the management of severe and very severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and compare it with routine decompressive craniectomy (RDC). ⋯ LDC is superior to RDC in improving the treatment outcome of severe TBI, especially the very severe ones. LDC can also efficiently reduce the chances of reoperation due to refractory ICP. However, it increases the incidences of delayed intracranial hematoma and contralateral subdural effusion.

Comparative StudyEvaluation of POSSUM scoring system in the treatment of osteoporotic fracture of the hip in elder patients.
To evaluate the applicability of the modified physiological and operative severity score for enumeration of mortality and morbidity (POSSUM) scoring system in predicting mortality in the patients undergoing hip joint arthroplasty. ⋯ Modified POSSUM scoring system may be used to predict the morbidity in patients with hip fracture. Furthermore, POSSUM scoring system overpredicts the overall risk of death, but its estimate is close to the actual data in the high risk band (larger than 10%).
