The anterior cruciate ligament-deficient (ACLD) knee requires appropriate treatment for the patient to return to sports. The purpose of this study was to clarify the kinematics of the anterior cruciate ligament-deficient knee in squatting motion before and after double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (DB-ACLR) using a 2D/3D registration technique. ⋯ DB-ACLR improved not only tibial AP instability but also tibial rotational instability at knee flexion with weight-bearing. DB-ACLR appears to be a useful technique for normalizing the knee joint kinematics of ACLD knees.

Local infiltration anesthesia versus epidural analgesia for postoperative pain control in total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of local infiltration anesthesia (LIA) versus epidural analgesia (EPA) for postoperative pain control in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ LIA has equivalent efficacy as EPA for pain control after TKA and shows an increase of the range of motion and a reduction of the occurrence of nausea and length of hospital stay. Due to the limited number of the included studies, more high-quality RCTs are still needed to identify the long-term effects of LIA for pain control after TKA.

Here, we compared the clinical and radiographic outcomes between coracoclavicular (CC) fixation with Mersilene tape and hook plate for acute unstable acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation treatment. ⋯ Both hook plate and Mersilene tape fixations provided temporary stabilization of acute type V AC dislocation and yielded comparable clinical outcomes. The hook plate provided better maintenance of reduction of radiographic outcomes. CC suture fixation with Mersilene tape may serve as an alternative method of stabilization which provides acceptable outcome without the need of implant removal.

The distribution and related factors of Modic changes (MC) in the lumbar spine has been evaluated. In the present study, the MC in the cervical endplate of patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) was investigated. ⋯ MCs manifested as type II mainly in patients with CSM. The incidence was highest in the C5-6 segment. Disc degeneration greatly contributed to the occurrence of MC.

Open pelvic fractures are rare but represent a serious clinical problem with high mortality rates. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of open pelvic fractures in our clinic and to compare the results from our patient group with those of closed fractures and with the literature from the past decade. ⋯ Open pelvic fractures are relatively rare but are a cause of significant morbidity. In this series, we treated patients with open pelvic fractures successfully, with a survival rate of 96%. There was no significant difference in survival rate between open and closed pelvic fractures. Compared with other studies, the mortality in our study was relatively low.
