Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common arthritic disease in humans, affecting the majority of individuals over 65 years of age. The aim of this study is to identify the gene expression profile specific to subchondral bone in OA by comparing the different expression profiles in experimental and sham-operation groups. ⋯ These key candidate DEGs that affect the progression of OA, and these genes might serve as potential therapeutic targets for OA.

To explore the epidemiological characteristics, clinical characteristics, treatment strategies, and clinical results of non-dislocated hyperextension tibial plateau fracture. ⋯ The main imaging characteristic of "non-dislocated hyperextension tibial plateau fracture" is the change of tibial plateau posterior slope angle. The injury of single anteromedial column/anterolateral column fracture is easy to combine with "diagonal" injury, and when the tPSA changes more than 10°, it is easy to be combined with ligament injury. By reducing the joint articular surface and lower limb force line, repairing the soft tissue structure, and reconstructing the knee joint stability, we can get satisfactory results.

According to the required reorganization of all hospital activities, the recent COVID-19 pandemic had dramatic consequences on the orthopedic world. We think that informing the orthopedic community about the strategy that we adopted both in our hospital and in our Department of Orthopedics could be useful, particularly for those who are facing the pandemic later than Italy. ⋯ Extensive swab test of all people (even if asymptomatic) and proactive tracing and quarantining of potential COVID-19 positive patients may diminish the virus spread.

Single versus dual orthogonal plating for comminuted midshaft clavicle fractures: a biomechanics study.
Dual orthogonal plating of clavicle fractures may provide greater stiffness and strength than unilateral plate constructs and allow the use of lower-profile plates. We aim to biomechanically compare three clavicle plating constructs in a comminuted clavicle fracture model. ⋯ Basic science biomechanical study.

Achilles sleeve avulsion usually occurs from pre-existing insertional Achilles tendinopathy, leaving a calcific spur at the insertional site. The purpose of this study was to introduce a new technique using the spur base on the insertional site to drill the suture tunnel to repair Achilles sleeve avulsion. ⋯ Level IV.
