Case Reports[Protrusion of a calcified cervical intervertebral disk in a 5-year-old boy].
Herniation of the calcified nucleus pulposus is a complication of intervertebral disc calcification. The herniated nucleus pulposus may assume an intraspinal location which may lead to cord compression and produce alarming neurological symptoms and radiographic images. ⋯ We report the case of a five years old boy with the symptoms of an acute tortcollis, radiographs of the cervical spine revealed calcification of C5/C6 intervertebral disc and MRI narrowing of the spinal canal. With conservative treatment his symptoms resolved within three weeks, three months later X-rays and MRI showed complete resolution of the calcification and herniation.

[Periprosthetic mineral density in cement-free hip replacement arthroplasty].
We analysed the periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) in a prospective longitudinal study over two years after operation and in a separate cross-sectional study more than five years after implantation of cementless total hip arthroplasty (CLS-stem, Mecron threaded acetabular cup) by using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). ⋯ The results reflect the different stress on the periprosthetic bone after implantation of the prosthesis and fit to earlier reported good clinical results of the CLS-stem and to increased loosening rate of threaded acetabular cups after five years. Analysing changes of mineralisation in cementless total hip arthroplasty DEXA together with the analization scheme according to Gruen at the femur and to De Lee and Charnley at the acetabulum is a useful method and has been reliable in clinical practise.

[10 years follow-up of athrodeses of the hindfoot joints and upper ankle joint].
What is the clinical and radiographic outcome of arthrodeses at the hindfoot and at the ankle more than 10 years postoperatively? ⋯ An unacceptably low rate of bony union in some locations, a high incidence of secondary degenerative changes at neighboring joints, and a persistent abnormality of the plantar weightbearing pattern in the operated feet demonstrate unsatisfactory results with the techniques used more than 10 years ago. We now recommend stable internal fixation with optimum adaptation of the bone surfaces of the arthrodesis.

Review[The physician's professional responsibilities, especially the responsibility for patient education].
With increasing numbers of disputs between patient and doctor the interest in correct enlightenment is rising. ⋯ The knowledge for correct enlighten can reduce the number of disputes between patient and doctor.
